I was testing MSFS2024 and the autogen of the trees is totally wrong. It looks like you are flying in pure woods all the time. The new simulator creates forests that don't exist, pasture areas are now forests, some crop areas it detects as forests, trees that don't exist in reality are now located all over the scenery. In addition, the trees are large and extensive and do not let you see the houses or streets. This is not solved overnight, you have to completely rescan the world with another AI and Asobo is not going to do that. I asked for a refund but they won't give it to me. I don't want to enter MSFS2024 anymore to fly in fantasy scenarios far away from the reality.

No, 2024 Its crap for IFR because had very bad Tree autogen ubication.

2020 is light years better. no streaming nonsense, no locked planes that stop users from making liveries, no buggy mess like this, no horrible AI voices that are not human like at all.

Fact 2024 has encrypted aircraft models is disconcerting as they are effectively locking out content owners who develop freeware mods for the community.

They took the names off towns so you fly around never knowing where you are it sucks. flying around seeing all the towns was one of the most interesting parts and they cut it out.

Yes they removed city markers, so pissed. Also no more saving the game in free mode, so if you shut it off in the middle of a long flight good luck figuring out where you left off.

I doubt Microsoft will actively kill MSFS 2020 if that's what you mean. Community interest driving third party developers to produce new content will have much more of an influence on MSFS 2020's longevity IMO. As long as Asobo is pulling commissions from the Marketplace sales, they have an incentive to keep MSFS 2020 active -- even if only through routine maintenance updates.

they did that for fsx
That last beta update and making windows 10 combatability worse was def intentional

How can you know that? Look Windows, look old flights simulators... I don't stop to install and removing because I am bored in this game...

Microsoft terminated its support for FSX in 2010. Modders kept FSX going, and then Dovetail Games brought it to Steam and made it compatible with Windows 10. DTG also created the DLC marketplace on Steam. All the support for for FSX-SE and the DLC market ended when DTG no longer held the license with Microsoft. The beta branch in 2019 was after the DTG period and was for Asobo's telemetry tests ahead of MSFS 2020. As a bonus the beta added live weather back to FSX for a while. Otherwise, Microsoft has been 'hands off' of FSX for over a decade. Microsoft's global decision to end DX9 support affects FSX, but I don't think this was done to push FSX holdouts to MSFS 2020 or 2024. Quite simply, FSX and DX9 are Windows XP/Vista years old.

My FSX-SE plays just fine, barring the security alert/certificate revocation message at launch that everyone has been getting for years. I am still using Windows 10 and I have legacy DX9c drivers installed. I also have almost no DLC, addons or freeware installed to my current build of FSX-SE, except for Active Sky 16, REX Sky Force 3D for FSX, and Active Sky Cloud Art for weather; the Steam DLC P-47D by Aeroplane Heaven; and one freeware Boeing 747 Max I installed for a test.
