Better for what? Are you asking to compare MSFS 40th Anniversary Edition vs MSFS 2024? Or are you asking which is the best flight sim available?

For a casual flier like me, FS 2020 is better. FS 2024 has no AI Co-pilot. I'm trying to learn to fly and am having problems.
Good news though I've learned to take -off. My landings are mostly upside-down though.
I'll keep trying to get better though.

as long as 2024 keeps to the cloud itll never be good- the issues people are having with the assets not loading is down to the cloud and your wifi.
bug issues such as no sound so forth could be fixed however if stuck to the cloud expect not alot of changes.

2024 is glorious for VFR flight. It's outstanding.

But... the bugs. Nobody will be in a hurry to delete 2020.

Well I was hoping 2024 was going to fix 2020 issues. But b/c they added so many more features, and bugs with them, there is more tech debt in 2024 than 2020. Not less. So that means the core issues in 2020 that were ported over to 2024 as is, get pushed farther back. Right now they have to fix fundamental issues in 2024 just to get it to be decent. As such some of our complaints in 2020 that are in 2024 may never get addressed or it will be 2 or 3 years. By that time there may be some new shiny sim on the horizon like 2028 which just means that unresolved tech debt from previous versions is being rolled into new versions and a new shiny coat of paint is put over it to hide the massive tech debt that is there. If people are wowed by simple features then the core fundamental broken things won't ever need to be fixed so long as the new features continue to wow everyone.

So for those of you that said they 'could not fix these things in 2020'.....how do you feel now? You bought it hook, line and sinker. Enjoy.

2024 looks like and shoud have been a 2020 DLC.

I'd just like the default aircraft in 40th Anniversary to get some of the new features they modeled into the MSFS 2024 versions. Is adding opening doors and windows to the C172 variants too much to ask for?

I believe they added full cabin interiors but encrypted all folders in the Community folder or at least where the model folders reside.

FS2020 is far superior for airports at night.

I’ve noticed no real difference between 2020 and 2024 when it comes to terrain and AI rendered buildings.

2024 is hideous with the bugs. Sometimes my character is half way in the fuselage. Passengers are in the wings.

2024 is lacking in customisation.

For what it is worth, I play with all the graphics settings maxed out and everything considered, at the moment , 2020 is superior in almost every regard.

The 'want a career' people are already complaining about pretty much everything in it. I told them that anything Asobo implemented they would not like. But no one listens. Damn fools. There is just no other way to describe those types. Damned fools that won't listen. I'm using Neofly along with FS 2020 and its nice and lightweight, does not interfere with my sim, does not cause new bugs in the sim and is already better than the career options in 2024.

Let 3rd party devs do all that add-on stuff. The sim should be a platform about flight. Not walking around everywhere but flying. Focus on the flying. But they can't even get that right. But hey you can walk through the forest? Like WTF? Am I missing something here? So you want to program a 'do everything simulator' but a 'do nothing well simulator'? Got it.

Like come on. Do flight and do it better than anything else on the market. Do a couple of things but do them extremely well and better than anyone else. That is good software. Focused, targeted, quality, concise software. Bloated buggy crap is not.

MFS is only better for graphics, physics is too simple, poor aircraft system, airport fidelity/consistency is horrible (AI system poorly reproduces an airport, like taxi lanes not straight/parking in the wrong place/orientation), airport service is just visual !

Agreed

Dont understand people saying 2024 is better. All i read are problems with the default controller settings, expensive controller hardware not being supported, lots of lag, delays, careeer mission problems and the list goes on. That's the basics. I have watched many YT videos of 2024 gameplay but it looks like om watching 2020 gameplay. My two cents: MS needs at least one year to solve the problems, if MS keeps Asobo alive after this aweful launch. MS has closed down MSFS departments before.
