Planes bought cant be seen by group?

I bought a spirit and downloaded it but my friend see me as another plane

There is no model matching unless the other player has the same aircraft installed.
Let's say you buy the ATR72, and fly with three people of which only one also owns the ATR. That one guy will see the ATR correctly, and the other two folks will see a different standard aircraft from the base game.

It also requires a specifc setting to be checked in game and unless they fixed it I seem to recall that doesn't work 100% of the time.

its not lame at all, imagine you would need evevry aircraft and every livery, to have that work
properly, if you fly with friends, you can get the same ones.

It can download the model if you set it to, but it is not 100%. I've never seen an aircraft in the sim while flying that I do not have in my collection. This leads me to believe if it can download the models for ones you do not own but other players do, it doesn't work right.

Check your traffic settings. At the bottom there is an option for ‘use generic models for multiplayer traffic’ that needs to be turned off for multiplayer planes to show as their actual models.
