The few enhanced airports are ok but they're not really necessary in my opinion.
I got the pd version because I wanted the Cessna 172 with steam gauges....the other versions only have the 172 with a glass cockpit (which is still great).
I think you get a couple of extra airliners as well but mine have never been out of the hangar as I only fly GA....
Might be worth you subscribing to xbox game pass for pc.
It's £7.99 a month in the UK (my wife and I both subscribe) and the standard edition is included, plus there are over 100 other pc games you can play with your membership.
We are currently playing Palworld but there are games like City Skylines 2, Starfield, F1 2023 to name but a few.
Subscribing for a month will give you a chance to check whether or not the game works ok on your system and all the other games are a bonus.
You can subscribe for just one month as well, there's none of this £7.99 a month but you must subscribe for a year rubbish!
Another bonus about gamepass (for me anyway) was during my second month, I got a "buy to own" discount for the pd edition and saved 20% off the full price!
Whatever you decide mate, good luck with it :)
Your mileage may vary though. I think the PD version is largely targeted at commercial aviation pilots, while Standard is perfectly fine for GA and casual flyers. Research what additional content comes with upgrades. All versions get the free 40th Anniversary content, the GOTY content, the Maverick DLC content, and the World and City Updates, so really it just comes down to if you want to pay for 5-10 more aircraft and 5-10 more airport sceneries.
The enhanced airports are ok, certainly better than the normal generated ones, but of course not comparable with a good 3rd party scenery.
And I've saved a good bit of money with the 33% discount I get on all Asobo/MS shop items.

I have a basic version of the game. As much as I wanted steam gauges Cessna 172, and wouldn't mind a few other aircrafts, it wasn't enough for me to pay double for the game.
A few days ago I paid less for PA-24-250 Comanche from A2A, and to me, it gives a much deeper immersion with superior quality.
If they offer similar pricing for MSFS2024, I would probably opt for the basic tier again unless they include something especially attractive in higher tiers.
I agree!
On opening day, it made (somewhat) more sense to get the Premium version. Now, though you'd only want it for specific aircraft. Still, it's flight sim, and if you aren't pouring money out of your bank account into it like floodwater into a Las Vegas casino, then you're not doing it right.

MSFS24 is going to be released some months from now. Getting into MSFS2020 now reminds me of buying my copy of FS98 the week before FS2000 was released.
Except it's month's not weeks. Probably quite a few months. To me it's a lot like buying any other franchise game months before the next one is due out. I don't understand why FS users seem to be the only ones bothered by this :)
MSFS2020 still has a lot of unfinished bugs.
Stupid and obvious bugs.
These are core to the purchase and installation process itself.
Why would any company ignore this...?
I am doubtful but will probably buy MSFS2024 when I have a T-1000 internet connection.
