Pitot Heat in an XCub?
Nube question here. I'm doing the South America Bush Trip and am getting used to the XCub. I see a Carb Heat knob but not Pitot Heat. Does Carb Heat provide the same function?

Thanks!

No, they're not the same and the XCub doesn't have a heated pitot tube.

Carb heat is for engine carburetor, if it ices up bad things can happen. Pitot heat is for the pitot tube which is for airspeed, if it ices up bad things can happen.

The pitot is a little tube that is sensitive to air pressure. As air is forced into the tube, the pressure inside can be used to calculate airpseed. If the tube freezes, you won't get a proper airspeed value. If you have your aircraft on autopilot, then the autopilot will have the wrong airspeed value and may try to crash the plane.

Air France Flight 447 is perhaps the most disastrous case of a frozen pitot.

Chances are in an XCub even if the pitot does freeze you will be okay. If the carburetor freezes, your engine will seize and you will get some glider practice.

in the real plane there is a pitot heat button on rightside of instrument panel , asobo forgot to add the button .. But Shift + H = pitot heat ON/OFF and works ingame for the Xcub.

Forgot about this thread. Anyways I found this...

Seems optional.

OMG the list of SHIFT+" " expands even more. What else is useful to know about like SHIFT+P for Pushback without having to wait for a Tug?

Shift + H!!!
I wish I had known that last night while I was hand flying an iced up X Cub for an hour+
The airframe eventually defrosted but the pitot never truly came back for the rest of the flight.
Oh well. One more thing to bind to the stream deck to stop me forgetting.
