Anyone that uses onair what are your thoughts?
I like the idea of onair or FSEconomy... But FsEconomy I have seen they have treated people not the best but thats a personal issue... So for anyone that has used either or both what are you thoughts?

I know a big selling point/ turn off for people is onair is a subscription...

I've been trying for 2 hours to get my first flight going with Onair. Here are my observations: The tutorial is clunky and difficult to follow because the entire concept of having to run an internet browser in conjunction with the sim is clunky and awkward to begin with. I have to read the tutorial, then hit the back button to follow the checklist in the tutorial but I can't have the tutorial open in one window and the actually company manager open in another.

By the time I finally got my plane synced with all of the conditions, got all green arrows on onair, and was ready to take off I no longer had any functioning controls. MSFS would no longer recognize my stick/throttle, mouse, or keyboard; likely because of all of the alt-tabing between the Onair app and MSFS. I had to restart the sim (I got frusterated and quit the onair app too).

Onair is not very user intuitive for those (like me) who have never used a 3rd party app in conjunction with another app. I'm sure I can learn this with time, but to be honest it's frusterating as a first timer.

Still on my 15 day trail so far I love it. You can set it up to be easier or play in survival mode. Survival mode = everything is realistic, and will take you lots of play time to get anywhere.

Basic functions of it.
1. You can hire pilots/ or free a gent them for a few days.
2. You can buy air craft/or tent them.
3. Aircraft are like real life you have to get them inspected every 100 hours, and replace engines every 1000 hours.
4. You can buy FBO at airports for things like hangers/tie downs Maintnance ships etc. set up a terminal to get contracts for delivery or passenger service.
5. You start out rated in a single engine land piston plane Cessna 172/150.
6. You have to get a rating in bigger aircraft which requires a test with instructor in game.. it’s neat!
7. It interacts with Fs2020 to make sure your going right airports for contracts with right weights.
8. It’s online and real time/most real time stuff can be changed to instant if your not playing survivor mode.
9. It works evrywhere.

So some of the negative stuff it has a big learning curve. I got confused certain contracts that require only player so you can’t have your AI pilots fly. There are others that are time specific. Meaning you can accept it, but won’t be ready until 3 days down road to do. Others have multiple destinations and objectives.

It’s pay ware after 15 days. But it’s pretty cheap. You can basically buy a 2 year subscription for 50 bucks. And you won’t pay again for 2 years. Or you can pay 20 bucks for 3 months. The more time you subscribe too the cheaper it is.

So much more. Other good stuff you can play it without fs2020 and have your AI pilots do contracts for you while your working, or not wanting to fly for that day.

Oh PS I’m pretty stable in FS2020 so like Sikon mentioned if your having crashing issues your just going to be frustrated. But this issue is true for all the economy mods. If your flight sim bugs out on you, going to be a headache

Sorry typed on phone terrible grammar and spelling.

Thank you both for your replies... I am new to Flight and Flight sims in general so I will probably be waiting to check the free trial out until I know more about flying.

I love it, and my thoughts are pretty much on point with Malkuth. I'm about 5 days into my free trial I think. I recommend watching the vid on the website and then skimming the manual before you start. And don't take your first company too seriously... consider it a learning company that you'll probably trash. Fortunately you can run one company in each of the three "worlds" at the same time.

I haven't done the tutorial so I don't know what sikon is referring to, but it does help to have two monitors with flight sims, in general. I have vfrmaps open on my monitor (I've only done vfr so far). MSFS is very alt-tab friendly for me, but your mileage may vary.

EDIT: I'll also note that their support so far has been excellent. If you have a question that can't be answered on their discord channel, they'll answer your support ticket within a business day.

Game alt tabs just fine in borderless but I have had that lack of input soft lock bug too. I really want to check out this OnAir. Sounds pretty cool. I have the web browser open for airport documents and flight plan etc anyways. Might not be so good for people with 16GB of ram or minimum spec but if you have gobs of RAM it shouldn't be an issue at all.

I am trying the OnAir 2 week trial right now, and it is awesome when it works. It even tracks your flight and you can watch your planes location on a map moving. Only thing is recently the servers keep going down randomly for the past 2-3 days, and it is not registering my flights. Very frustrating.

Ya they seem to have gotten hit with a mass of FS2020 customers from NA. It’s unfortunate they were not prepared for it, most likely going to cost them customers in the end.

They have a discord and they are working on adding more servers for NA.

I just started today and my wife is already like...bruh...when are you going to act like my husband again? I tried the tutorial 3 times and could not get it to complete - finally just bought a small plane and started doing jobs and profited - Even without the tutorial completion if you've gotten as far as you can you know pretty much all you need to know. The manual seems pretty in depth. There are a few things I'd love to change - like NOT having everything report in UTC...why not report in your home airport? But that's minor. Overall I think I've found a good reason to fly!

I still have questions...like if I accept a job that has 2 legs do I need to come back home (A->B->A->C) or just go from A->B->C? I know I'll figure it out through trial and error...but it's not clear for the uninitiated.

:KOh:

I think $50 gets you 2 years.

You'll get a Cessna 172 as a reward for completing the tutorial. It took me all day yesterday to finally complete the tutorial.

I've been flying around in that all day today, started renting a Cessna Caravan and now I'm really pulling in some cash now. It was a pain figuring out how to get my pilot recertified for turboprop though. That and all the server drops today...

I'm still getting lost in the screens trying to figure out how the app functions with things like new aircraft and pilot training. I really wish they had a better FAQ section. I'm sure we're not the only people fighting our way through this learning curve.

Wait till Slopey gets Air Hauler 2 working in MSFS2020. I believe it's more complex in a good way than the others. You can check it out at Just Flight for other sims.I haven't played the other two, but watched videos. I'm sure all are fun though.

I'm going to do the free trial on OnAir to see what's happening tomorrow.
