Old Sidewinder Joystick compatibility
Hi! I'm trying to use a Sidewinder Joystick which is detected by Windows and works fine. I used it to play through Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown. I start FS2020 with the joystick plugged in and it''s not detected, even if Steam detects it on the controllers section. If I try to plug in the joystick with the game running, it simply crashes to the desktop. I can't find the Sidewinder drivers anywhere, and the question is - Do I need them? Does anybody have the same issue? Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

If it's detected and works in windows device manager than you shouldn't need additional drivers. It does not show up on the controls page? It is, I'm sure, not prebound in the game release, but you should be able to take care of that yourself...

Thanks for the video, it seems helpful in configuring everything right. I actually got the Sidewinder to appear, but I have no clue of what changed in order for it to appear. I borrowed a Thrustmaster TFlight Hotas from a friend of mine, and the problem is the same. It doesn't even show up. If I try to plug the controller in-game, it simply crashes. Any tips?

Figured it out! Turns out, I had to configure the controller in Steam. Thanks anyway!

Hi dockelectro - How did you configure your Sidewinder joystick in Steam? I can't figure out how to do so. Please let me know, thanks.

I have the FFB version and it works just fine. I had to map the controls and buttons in options, but no biggie.

Sorry, just saw this today. You go to settings > controllers and the joystico should be there. Then you just try and program its buttons.
