how do I use brakes on ground once I landed?
I hear alot about using the flaps to slow me down, ok that works, but even when I completely shut the throttle all the way down I'm still rolling and cannot control/stop the aircraft. What key is everyone using for ground brakes? Taxiing is a nightmare and I usually have to put it on autopilot to get me to stop once landed

I tried setting alternate setting to use B as brakes but that did not work. May try that again. The DEL key did not work either - I'm using the default settings at moment. NUM DEL? Does that mean DEL?

When you see NUMDEL in your bindings it means press the Del key with the Num lock turned on. If your Num lock is not turned on it won’t work. On some numeric keypads it might just show a . on the key Instead of del/.

Dont forget if you are using a giant airliner, they dont brake instantly.
Also, judging by the complaints of "the A320 always full throttles when i touch down and I take off again",precious few people are using the thrust reversers, which are a pretty big part of slowing down a jetliner.

It also depends on the Autothrottle settings and if the jetliner is on approach/landing mode. If the aircraft suddenly switches to TO/GA mode, then you're in trouble because it'll take over the throttle to full power and take off again.

Depends on what aircraft you are flying at that time.

Propellers = flaps and brakes (speed during landing must be below 80 knots) too fast and you overshoot.
Turboprops/Jets/Airliners = flaps/reverse thrust (press F2) and brakes. (must be at certain landing speeds otherwise you'll overshoot too)

Good luck!

I just used the period on numeric keypad. Seem to be one of the defaults for braking. Works well.

On touchdown, hold the key for brakes and hit the key for spoilers (if the latter dont extend automatically). On larger aircraft, engage thrust reverser and if a light goes on that they reversers are engaged, give maximum throttle. This is fun and the reversers are quite powerful so this can be really important, even on a dry runway. When the runway is wet or ice it can become crucial.

If you have a tricycle undercarriage you can also pitch the stick forward to increase dynamic pressure (but not on a taildragger where this is suicide)

Flaps don't do much imo but they dont hurt. It just would take kilometers for flaps to slow you down.

Many airliners also have autobrakes, which can be preset and will engage once the wheels touch the ground, but that's an advanced feature and even real pilots sometimes dont use them irl.

Check your key bindings
Yeah really, if only we had a list that showed us all of our key binds...... hmmmm. Nope can't think of one.
On default it only shows the binded keys, click the arrow to see ALL bind

Careful braking in the Shock Ultra, it will flip over in an instant with the all on / off brakes. Tap tap tap to stop instead of ending up upside down.

Use aero braking on small GA. Work the stick to slow you down. I have found the brakes are sometimes a bit ineffective, but I'm not sure what factors into it.

When taxiing it also feels like we have to apply too much power in all the planes to get them moving, based on videos and what pilots say. Which means you have too much power and speed and have to brake too much. Taxiing generally a bit inelegant but it always was in FSX too.

I think a beginner should generally be warned of tail draggers. They can be extremely dangerous, so maybe he should stick to modern, tricycled planes for a while.
