Flat trees (in some areas)
Hello!

I noticed that in some areas seemingly all or nearly all trees are not loaded as 3D models and are only 2D.

I noticed this especially in Germany and Switzerland recently (I installed the world update for both for some sight seeing).

In other areas like France (Paris, to be specific) or Strasbourg the trees are 3D (I also installed the France world update).

Here two screenshots for comparison:

Hohenzollern castle in Germany, mostly flat trees.

Versailles in France, with sexy 3D trees.

Does anyone know why it is like that? Thanks in advance : )

That is a location where the image data shows trees but for some reason the sim did not populate it with trees. It is an issue with the terrain data not matching the image data.

Your trees in the first image appear to have a seasonal coloration. Are you using an addon product?

Updated GERMANY WU as an update was available this week?

The Western Europe pack isn't a Germany WU, and Hohenzollern Castle and Versaille are nowhere in the region that was impacted.

@Space Wolf Hudson
Just took a spin around Hohenzollern Castle, I've got 3D trees all around. My first suspect would be either a mod, faulty local cache or temporary issues with online data streaming being hte culprit.

Yeah could be, interesting.

No, nothing for scenery... except the germany, austria, switzerland world update, of course. The aircraft I'm flying is the (unofficial) A2A Piper Comanche, but that cannot cause issues like that, right?

I did download the update.

Ah ok so it is probably an issue on my end... Thats good to know. Maybe I clear my local data cache and see if that helps. As stated above, I have no scenery addons or mods, except for the official world update.

WORLD UPDATE VI: GERMANY, AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND WU VI (6) had an update for this. Don't use MANUAL CACHE and avoid using ROLLING CACHE if you have >33mbps. You may also delete the 2 places for DXCache. Ask if not sure OR search these on here as posted more than enough already.

Thanks I just deleted the cache. I'll update this if it helped once I get to check the results. If I don't forget to come back here :steamhappy:

Before the Western Europe update, I noticed some areas around Frankfurt has higher rendered textures.

After the update, more stutters are experienced near or at the enhanced EDDF airport mod.

For anyone curios, deleting and deactivating the cache did the trick! :steamhappy:

All trees are now proper 3D models.

Thanks all for the help!

Can someone please explain for someone who's not a PC-"expert" (*me*) how to "delete and deactivate the cache"? I"m running my (Steam) MSFS 2020 using WIN 10 on a Dell desktop PC, all drivers (etc) up to date. Also getting some issues with flat trees in certain places, that (I'm pretty sure but not positive) weren't looking this way before some recent official MSFS2020 updates.
I have all available DLCs installed for MSFS 2020 and all the latest MSFS 2020 updates for all worlds installed, as well. Other than a few "official" MSFS-marketplace-only purchases (for random airports, birds, etc), I'm not running any non-official mods, AFAIK.
Thanks!
Specs:
--Running Windows 10 Home 64bit on a Dell Inspiron 5090 desktop PC. Intel Core i7-9700 CUP@ 3.00 GHz [8-Core/8-Thread 12M Cache, 4.7GHz Processor w/ Intel Turbo Boost Technology]. 16 GB memory. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 and NVIDIA High Def audio. All completely updated w/ latest drivers and Win 10 updates. Running game at 1920X1080 on standard monitor.

General Options -> Data -> Rolling Cache Settings -> Rolling Cache to OFF
You can use rolling cache, but should delete it after every update as it can cause exactly the issues you see in this thread, performance degradation, or other bugs.

Thanks very much! I"ll keep that in mind.

Fixed the issue...holy cow. THanks so much!
