Will our INVESTED MONEY in Addons carry over to 2024?
This is THE most single important question and it has no answers yet which further is a more seriously worrying one.

The Game is not cheap and then our addons are far far deeper into our pocket. If all those Adoons can not carry over into MSFS2024 then that surely will mean many DEVS will bail out right now due to Customers not willing to put any more into this MSFS2020.

In a nut shell, without a definite announcement to NOT cause a panic in Sales (both for the Game & Addons) then this rather DOES cause a panic to cease all Sales forthwith.

GOBSMACKED but not surprised by the sheer greed from MICROSHAFT.

I know most people are feeling cynical about it, and that's not without cause, but I honestly think that yes the stuff purchased in the MSFS2020 store will carry over to 2024. This actually reminds me a bit of the Train Sim World model where they release a new game every few years but they port over content from the previous game. Let's hope it works that way ... it would be suicide for the franchise if it didn't ... people have spent hundreds on this stuff.

True. I made a comment in another thread about how this will seriously impact Marketplace sales. I'll bet the 3rd party sellers are completely PO. This will surely end any new game sales of MSFS 2020.

They haven't even said if it will be available through Steam or any other seller. I don't think they care because they want everyone playing games from their subscription service.

The ADDONS will probably be ported relatively easily, since this looks like the same game in a new wrapping. But you're going to pay for it, no doubt. So your MONEY is not going to carry over.

What I've read from my understanding is... There'll be and overhaul of stuff like Asobo engine, latest cloud tech, new AI engine etc etc. Which will be an upgrade from FS2020.. Though all the content that was showed in the trailer will payware.. Though we are speaking of Mircrosux, so cannot rule out anything..

This is a bit reassuring as far as add-ons. However, is it going to still include the whole world or:
-Will it be DLC for regions?
-Will it still function as an open world Flight Simulator or will all these mission things be required?
-Are all the aircraft and airports purchased through Deluxe version going to be included also?
-What are the hardware requirements?

My guess is they had a breakthrough with the game engine and found a way to fully implement DX12 and now they are going to add a few things and make you buy the game all over again.

Sounds like Bait and Switch to me. As mentioned by @Loaf, your MONEY is not going to carry over.

I'm a bit disappointed I'm gonna have to buy the game again to have features I was expecting for FS2020 tbh, but it is what it is I guess. All we can do for now is wait for more news and hope this new version brings major improvements over FS2020 instead of being just a major cash grab.

What I see is small areas in more detail with added Foliage/Weather detail on top of the current Game with added Missions along with better Character Animations. Due to Asobo saying they are wanting to have MSFS2020 get Custom Edits for the whole World to cut down time, I think that removes the boredom of having to cover China & Russia which is last on their list if at all. It then pulls in money for their new tech which may have even used AI to get them there.
You'd think they could take care of making this perfect with better UI and adding some Flights but from other DLC it will soon look old. The UI is the most embarrassing. It could at least just integrate directly with SIMBRIEF.
Besides, we all know those short DLC Missions are just a 1 day bit of fun. How many times do you think you are gonna put out that same Fire; rescue people on a mountain; fix a power mast etc.
Seriously it should be made just DLC.

I am happy to hear that more money is being put into the game type that I enjoy. I will be there on day 1, or earlier, giving my next contribution because I want even more flight sims in the future. Isn't it great that all their greed translates into new fun games for us. Capitalism rules!

Let's hope that those greedy business people at X-Plane are next with their hands out for our money begging us to buy their new sim packed with new innovation.

I feel sorry for 3rd party dev's, their income stream from now must be dead in the water. Who is going to invest anymore money in what we have now.

You will still be able to play with MSFS 2020 after 2024 is released. In addition MS has already said that most 3rd Party add ons will work fine in MSFS 2024, so I would guess the people who aren't panicking would still buy add-ons.

If MSFS 2024 is so much better that you never want to play MSFS 2020 again, then you likely won't care because you will be having so much fun in 2024 and the $ you are worked up about will be forgotten, just like every other game you spent money on and no longer play.

along with better Character Animations.
You call that stilted animation of the guy walking to the heli in the trailer 'better'? It was an animation. But better? Not so sure.

We have to wait and see what it is. If its just missions and a little bit of new paint here and there I don't see myself buying in. 'Upgraded engine' is more like 'check is in the mail' speak.

Did the add-ons for msfs 98 carry over to msfs 2000?
ZombieHunter Jun 12, 2023 @ 8:58pm
I will not be buying any more add-ons for FS 2020.

They've come out and said that the FS2020 marketplace purchases will work with 2024, yesterday, so this should no longer be a worry.
