for example, bind throttle to "throttle axis" and not "throttle up" and "throttle down".
You don't have your axis correctly bound. If you want me to make a video to help you I can.
I would do the opposite. Keep MSFS and ditch the 940. Why not upgrade your joystick instead. The newer the game/sim is, the less likely that older hardware is going to be supported. Velocity has a new joystick out that is already set up for MSFS. It is basically plug and play.
