Why do some of my planes keep tilting to the right?
I play with keyboard, i know it's not ideal but that's what i have for now. What i've noticed is that when flying the Cessna c152, if i'm heading straight toward the horizon and push the 5 key to bring the stick to neutral, it flies completely straight, albeit with a few direction changes/bumps due to the wind.

However, if i try the Daher, or the larger Skyhawk for example, they both keep tilting to the right with the stick at neutral, and even if i'm tilting left heavily, all i have to do to start tilting right is put the stick to neutral. I just don't get it, any advice would be very much appreciated.

engine / propeller momentum force.
try trimming ailerons against it.
you can also set flight model realism to easy to avoid it. If youre flying with keyboard maybe you should use easy model.

But better get yourself a joystick. Or you can also fly with the mouse, its much better then with keyboard. You have to install some 3rd party tool emulating joystick with the mouse. Don't recall the name.

Thanks very much

Don't trim ailerons for this. Use your rudder to keep the plane coordinated. Keep the ball in the middle of the turn coordinator bubble. Step on the ball as in use rudder on the side the ball is on to center it up. This is due to torque, slipstream and some other complicated forces coming from the prop.

Thank you again, just out of curiousity, why is the smaller Cessna not affected by these forces? It's also a single engine propellor, yet it flies as straight as an arrow.

It is affected by it. What happens is when you add power, you add right rudder. When you reduce power you add left rudder and/or just less right rudder depending on the plane. I've flown about 9 different 172's and none of them respond the same. Pretty much just like 9 of the same model cars from the same year are not going to drive exactly the same. Also rudder authority is not the same across aircraft. Some have more and some you feel like you have less and have to apply more rudder input.

So in your mind just remember that your right hand (the one adding power) is connected to your right foot. Add power, right rudder, remove power, left rudder or less right rudder.

The simulator is not very accurate with respect to adverse yaw. Angle of attack also changes how much this affects the aircraft. In a real plane it might feel odd the first few times but after a few flights it becomes automatic. And after a bit more you can just feel when the aircraft isn't 'under' you and in coordinated flight by just how it feels in the seat.

That's really helpful, thanks guys.
Or could it be that the fuel tanks are not trimmed, I mean maybe you have more fuel in the right tank than in the left?

Only if the fuel selector is not on Both. In the C172 it should be on both before flight. This is part of the pre-flight checklist. There is no 'trimming' of the fuel tanks in the 172.

The last few times I've been to Goodwill, they've had genuine XBOX controllers for ten clams. You may also find some joysticks there as well, that's a little trickier. But an XBOX works very well with MSFS.

i'm grateful for the advice, i should really have mentioned it but my issues are physical, i need to rest on the keyboard/place my fore-arrms on the desk, to be able to play as i have mobility issues. Thanks again though i appreciate it.

You may want to look at the XBOX Adaptive controller, then. It's a modular controller with pieces you can add or subtract depending on what you want to and can do. The base price is around that of a regular controller, maybe a bit cheaper. I don't know what the add-ons will run you, though, I haven't seen one of these in a while although that's just because I haven't been out of the house much.

Another option is to get custom made controllers, I've heard good things about Evil. Specifically, Evil Controllers. They will custom-build a controller to your precise requirements. I don't know what their price range is, although they have some pre-built items in their store that easily compare in price to a normal controller.

That's really kind thank you, i'll take a look at all of these. I have to admit, trying to pull a grand caravan out of a death spiral with the number-pad is something of a challenge :D

I had to reply as that made me laugh!

Oddly enough when I first got the game it was the Grand Caravan doing death spirals when I was adjusting stuff on the autopilot.

As you said its not easy to fly with the kb and I hope you find a suitable stick which will give you more enjoyment. Its a pity that the game does not have a function its predecessor (FSX) did: Mouse as Yoke.

There's a fuse setting K.A.H. ("Kill All Humans") - pull out that fuse and the autopilot will work just fine. I think it's under the seat in the locked box marked "Beware Of The Snake".

Mouse Yoke is not such a hot replacement for a good controller, but it's better than what MSFS has for KB/M users.
