More FPS? NDU Registry Tweak.
So has anybody tried this Registry Tweak by changing the value from 2 to 4 which apparently disables the NDU (No idea what that is), and is supposed to help in giving you more FPS and no stuttering.
There are one or two YouTube videos I've seen on it but I'm sceptical.

after I did this for my 2080 Super. It did gives back a few fps increase (2-3 fps) and make the sim more stable. You still need to play around with your graphics setting though to get the best performance out of your nvidia gpu. To me the tweak give me a few more fps and make it a bit more stable.
I use it but never had issues after 2-3hours. I also tried no Multiplayer and that fixed the 1sec stutter. I Enabled it again later and it hasn't returned. There's another new one by another sensationalist saying Windows Update made your PC boot with just 1 CPU. Nobody has seen any change as far as I see so the issue lays in something becoming stuck and needing flushed out it seems.
Here's the CLICK BAIT :steamhappy:

BEST is to optimise your UserCFG.opt file as lots of vids show.

That first video with the Stutter Tweak. I mean, really?

I looked into it, and it's essentially based on a series of assumptions made by people who've googled other people's assumptions about something that started out as a memory leak with a network driver many years ago.

When you google "ndu windows" the first hit you get it is a page that states the following: "A driver is a small software program that allows your computer to communicate with hardware or connected devices". Apparently somebody inferred from this sentence that the NDU (Network Data Usage Monitor) is responsible for hardware connections. Which makes no sense whatsoever, but this is the sort of inference that people who know nothing make.

This combined with a performance degrading memory leak that was related to the NDU many years ago made people assume that the NDU causes stuttering because it is constantly checking for hardware connections. Which again makes no sense whatsoever.

I tried changing that value, and it didn't do anything. No driver or NDU service is loaded on either of those two values.

Save yourself the time (and the placebo effect) and just ignore suggestions like these.

Sounds like good advice.

Would be if it was correct - but it's not.

Well I think it is. :steammocking:
Did nothing on both machines here. Promptly set it back
Stuttering can be measured relatively easily anyway, so if anyone thinks that this reduced his stuttering, he should provide evidence in the form of frame times etc.
As a general rule of thumb I don't ♥♥♥♥ with the registry. If I want better fps I buy better hardware.

+1 This.
Tinkering with in-game settings in the menu is one thing but yeah, if things are pretty bad then time for a hardware upgrade because no amount of outside tinkering to gain more FPS and reduce stuttering will fix anything.
I think in my experience I rid all stutter just by Toggling Multiplayer with a Reboot in between being ON again. I had tried DNA Flushing in the past which helps in DCS to populate Server Lists rapidly. I had tried NDU=4 afterwards but I never had stutter with it as default on 2. I had also tried clearing DirectX11 Cache which is good helping rid Purple Textures along with Updating ALL Liveries which do it.
There is certainly a connection to MULTIPLAYER and could be similar to requiring a DNS Flush as the Toggling/Reboot probably did and made a better connection. I also Disable IPV6 which famously fixed my LIVE WEATHER to load but also shows us a reliability along with ATC going Offline at at times that all this may affect your performance which also if you edited VSYNC=FAST (read what this does in it's description) plus all the small tweaks to rid SHARPEN; FRINGE; LENSDISTORTION; DIRT; COLOUR GRADING; FILM GRAIN; VIGNETTE (I do like Eye Adaption) plus all other PC Optimisations then it runs like silk even with MULTIPLAYER ON again (unless populated by lots of Players from across the World obviously).

I, for one, do not think it is possible to remove all stutter from a sim like FS 2020. There is just too much being loaded in and rendered. Also I think the NDU issue a placebo invented by people who guessed and then guessed more and then more people guessed and they all are basing their guesses on incorrect assumptions.

...DNA Flushing...

That's probably not a great idea.

It's the best suggestion he's had so far.
