instruments in external view?

How do I toggle them on and off? I can't find anything in the options and mashing the keyboard has proved most unsuccessful.

Like, in the tutorials, if you go to external view (end) then the camera goes outside the aircraft in chase mode. The instruments come up automatically, but this doesn't happen outside of the tutorial.

Only in Accessibility Options and not on the fly in Flight.
