Anyone else lost interest in this simulator?
When this simulator first came out I was able to launch and get to the main menu fairly quickly, about 2 minutes 15 seconds. Since then I have, of course, purchased more aircraft and scenery to enhance the simulator. With every addition the launch time increases. With my freeware addons disabled (liveries, free airports and aircraft mods) it now takes almost 4 minutes to start this simulator. If I rename my community folder it takes 3 minutes and with everything loading it takes 6 minutes. For this reason I have lost interest in flying this thing and it seems over time, unlike P3D and XP11 the load time will just keep increasing. So I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this and has also lost interest in flying this simulator. Once it is up and running it is great. I get good frames and the scenery is fantastic. It's just getting there that has become the issue for me.

Like integrating this...

Yes - I use this too. Quite handy.

Haven't worked out how to add things though. Would be better if I'd taken the time to figure that out.

I am not sure if this is a "me only" problem or not, but I experienced very odd issues when using an add-on linker for certain things. Eventually I figured out that for static things like scenery and liveries it worked fine, but for more dynamic things like the PMS50 mod for Garmin 530 my sim started behaving very weird.

When the mod was placed in the community folder then everything worked fine.

I've lost interest because i have no purpose to fly anywhere anymore.
I'd like to see something like OnAir integrated to the simulator with higher quality and not a spreadsheet on a monthly payment.

I hate that Microsoft keeps leaning on third parties to avoid the hard work of making a new mode.

Its a Sim and a Sandbox, so not for everyone imho. However, a fully-fledged career integration is unlikely, due to 3rd party revenue potential unfortunately.

I use the linker with the PMS50 - both the 530 and the 750. Can't say I've seen any issues doing so. Interesting observation though.

My understanding is that these mods get compiled at load time. Not sure that they would be accessed once they are loaded - but I'd like to know more from someone who knows this stuff better.

These "weird"things you saw - were they at load time? Or was it while you were flying?

I'm interested as well. I use the addon linker for the PMS50 as well as Accuseason and some aircraft performance mods and haven't had any issues. At least none that I am aware of.

My problems were mostly a weird chaineffect. The 530 would not respond properly to me entering changes to a flight plan. The autopilot would not catch localizers and glideslopes. So the real frustration was with the autopilot.

The issues were not only on one plane, I believe I checked 3 different planes.

When I stopped using the add-on linker and just put the PMS50 mod directly in the community folder, all my issues went away.

But as mentioned, I have not read about anything like this before so I thought it might be just me... Especially since I am using a lot of fairly unique stuff like:
Realsimgear 530/430
FSUPIC
Spad.Next with Stream Deck

After 600 hours I am nowhere near losing interest. I use Google Earth and Wikipedia to find interesting places that I want to visit, learn about their cultures and histories, then tour the areas from the air. It's a blast, and I can't see it ever getting old. I used to do the same thing with just google earth, but flying the areas is a million times more immersive.

I fly in DCS as well, with probably twice the hours, but for completely different reasons than what I look for in this sim. I love them both.

So what you can do as a consumer if you do not agree with how they censor is stop supporting them and using their service.
^This, by any means.

If you're using addon-linker for airports or aircraft that install to the community folder you just need to be sure their link is activated before you run the update. The update will update to the community folder and the symbolic link will link to wherever you store your addons updating the actual data there. If you didn't activate the link you'll have an actual directory containing the update data in the community folder. I would delete these updated folders from community, activate the link and then re-run the update to properly update.

For freeware or packages that come in a zip you can just delete the existing in your addon folder and unzip directly to those folders.

Far as using addon-linker with packages that install to official, I haven't tested this since it's probably more pain than it's worth. Updating via content manager would be broken and there may be an issue with DRM only working with content under official.

You can also use addon-linker to manage content in the official folder, it's in the options/advanced tab.

Addon-linker is a life saver, not only does it make managing your addons easier since you can create your own logical folder system but it also allows you to only load the region(s) your flying in for a particular session reducing chances of conflicting addons, crashes and improving load times.
