Yes - I use this too. Quite handy.
Haven't worked out how to add things though. Would be better if I'd taken the time to figure that out.
When the mod was placed in the community folder then everything worked fine.
I'd like to see something like OnAir integrated to the simulator with higher quality and not a spreadsheet on a monthly payment.
I hate that Microsoft keeps leaning on third parties to avoid the hard work of making a new mode.
Its a Sim and a Sandbox, so not for everyone imho. However, a fully-fledged career integration is unlikely, due to 3rd party revenue potential unfortunately.
I use the linker with the PMS50 - both the 530 and the 750. Can't say I've seen any issues doing so. Interesting observation though.
My understanding is that these mods get compiled at load time. Not sure that they would be accessed once they are loaded - but I'd like to know more from someone who knows this stuff better.
These "weird"things you saw - were they at load time? Or was it while you were flying?
I'm interested as well. I use the addon linker for the PMS50 as well as Accuseason and some aircraft performance mods and haven't had any issues. At least none that I am aware of.
The issues were not only on one plane, I believe I checked 3 different planes.
When I stopped using the add-on linker and just put the PMS50 mod directly in the community folder, all my issues went away.
But as mentioned, I have not read about anything like this before so I thought it might be just me... Especially since I am using a lot of fairly unique stuff like:
Realsimgear 530/430
FSUPIC
Spad.Next with Stream Deck
I fly in DCS as well, with probably twice the hours, but for completely different reasons than what I look for in this sim. I love them both.
Pretty sure everybody has lost interest in this thread
For freeware or packages that come in a zip you can just delete the existing in your addon folder and unzip directly to those folders.
Far as using addon-linker with packages that install to official, I haven't tested this since it's probably more pain than it's worth. Updating via content manager would be broken and there may be an issue with DRM only working with content under official.
You can also use addon-linker to manage content in the official folder, it's in the options/advanced tab.
Addon-linker is a life saver, not only does it make managing your addons easier since you can create your own logical folder system but it also allows you to only load the region(s) your flying in for a particular session reducing chances of conflicting addons, crashes and improving load times.
