I forget the exact route, but no you can't do the whole thing at eleven. Most of it yes. I had to slip around two mountains and rise briefly as high as 14. That was the moment he cleared me for 12. It clearly isn't a proper IFR route for a 172. I should have done my first one in nice flat Florida.
I actually canceled IFR until I neared the approach, then returned to IFR.
