Look under Accessibility in the settings. In Miscellaneous there's an option called Instrument Description Tooltips.
When I started the sim after update 5 I was unable to interact with the cockpit by mouse. I went through about 5 to 10 sources (steam posts and youtube videos) and all of them showed this problem but only suggested to turn the interaction mode to legacy. So I looked further and found it in the controls options so I decided to open this thread.
It's under the Misc catagory somewhere in the keybind menu. You'll likely want to bind atleast the ability to select things (IE click on them), and the abillity to increase and decrease your selection bound to your scroll wheel (otherwise some things won't work right).
I turned the new Lock system back on and the tooltips and figured out how it works. I didn't have to do any binding. I just switched it over to locked mode and turned on the tips etc and then actually read the tooltips to figure out how it works (something I should have done to begin with). After that I turned off the tooltips.
Well I did figure out how the new controls work and right now for me it's not better but different. I guess I just need to give it some time to get used to it. Glad I can go back to Legacy if I want but after playing with it for a while I am starting to adjust. I just wish there was documentation to go along with all of the changes.
I think it is confirmed that updates just dont change custom profiles to not mess them up. Other then that, the new system works fine. For controller players it is a must have, for players with a mouse it is a matter of opinion.
If it did what I expected it to do based on the description in the release notes, it would be a godsend, oversized popups aside. You would think "lock to control" would also do things like block other functionality but alas it does not.
The main example I'm thinking about here is blocking zoom from the scroll wheel while "locked" to a cockpit control.
