Is My Spec Good Enough?

I have an HP-17 Omen laptop with 16Mb RAM and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Graphics Card. I also have 64-bit OS, an i-7 cpu and about half a TB of space left. Do I have enough spec to run Microsoft Flight Simulator with an Oculus 2 VR system? Asking before I buy.

Honestly? Laptops (even gaming ones) are generally going to perform worse than a equivalently spec'd desktop and since FS 2020 is a bit of a system resource hog, I do see your laptop having issues running it well. This is especially going to be the case with VR in the mix.

i have an 2070 super and this is with VR really a minimum. your setting will be ok with no VR

Thanks all. Not willing to get a trial pass, as I would need to also by the Oculus to try it out. I would only get the Oculus for MSFS. Is MSFS any good on a flat 2d screen?

I can only respond with the same comment. The only person who can make that judgement is you. A thousand people could post and tell you it's great, you might buy it and not be happy with it. For £1 you can try it and get the only opinion that matters.

my only thing to comment on is that your on a laptop, check desktop specs .. ms is resource hungry . i think you will bareley make minimum spec as you on a laptop , as for vr .i doubt you would get any enjoyment . this game is not solely based on gfx but more on memory . hell i got 64gb mem and still lag a little on a desktop custom pc .
not trying to shoot you down . just make you think about dropping alot of money for this game . amazing game if your specs can handle it . . .
my own thought is that a laptop wont cut it much , it may run it m but at what cost to gameplay .

i also have this on vr , on pc but vr is not friendly much for ms2020 . as updates come fast . i would seriously reccommend you try the xbox game pass .atleast you will get a true idea if your laptop can handle this before you pay full price ,

The only sims/games that are not good outside of VR are ones that were built for VR specifically in the first place. Pretty much all the major flight sims on the market now are great even without VR.

I play on Desktop, 10 year old i7 2600k 8gigs of ram, about 50gb on ssd spare GTX 1060 most of the settings at High though Nvidia app recommends everything on low. The simulation runs very well for me.

Just for the sake of reference, could you elaborate on what you mean by "runs very well for me"? I ask because everyone has different standards and "very well" can mean just about anything.

...and that's exactly why this thread cannot be answered in a satisfactory manner. The only person who can answer this question for the OP, is the OP. Unless the only question is "can I run it?" in which case the answer is yes but typically the underlying question is "can I run it well?" which is very subjective.

New update end of July will improve performance, the example they had awas the same GPU as yours
