Ah, ok. Hopefully that will change.
One thing that always put me off paid addons for FSX and FS2004 was that they were from many different developers spread around the internet. So I would find it frustrating keeping track of where addons I had purchased had come from etc. If they could all be localised in one place, such as the in-game marketplace, that would be great. Just personal preference.
Third-party vendor sites alleviate this problem. Very few developers force you to buy from their site. I have a massive load of addons from only a small handful of third-party sites. I simply log in and download my stuff.
EDIT: Also, some things found on third-party vendor sites won't be found in the marketplace and vice versa.
