Is there some Copyright reason we don't see Country Names on the Map?
No idea why we see Clouds on the World Map but we don't even see Country Names.
WTF???
At least the WEATHER LAYER can be removed in Filters.

Easily settled. I play VR and that's what I look at and hear. No 3rd-Party APP is wanted. Do grow up with your "man child" sentiments. This can be lot better and why the F why not kidda.

I envision one day years down the road there may be a "virtual" FBO in the sim as the primary interface, if you can remember Jane's flight sims you know what a mean. A interactive FBO with areas to enter to flight planning, weather, select aircraft, take training, etc. etc.

Hope so. Although you can add Custom VOR-VOR Waypoints, these are very tricky to click on as they are not shown and appear by chance. You'd be very lucky if you got to ADD 2 of these after your 2 Airports to insert. I mean hell, what is so hard about Dragging the Main Course to Diversions OR just DRAGGING a Line to Create Waypoints?
Right now even DCS has problems with theirs in VR showing up properly. OMG DEVs!!!

As someone that has played in VR for flight sims, you problems are not on misunderstood ears. - being in discord or the like has no effect on using VR. Setting up flight plans and bush flights etc-- easily done with the VR headset off. You are complaining about nothing.

As far as countries not being labeled-- thats on you. no one cares about that.
As far as setting up and using your FMC-- unless you can memorize everything, you might need to refer to something.

You could also easily refer to things on the web while in VR. - Everything you are complaining about is moot, since you can pretty much do everything in VR as far as access to information-- If you don't want to use what steam has to offer as far as using its functionality --

You dont like third party apps, but here is one https://store.steampowered.com/app/586210/OVRdrop/
It puts your browser as an over lay etc etc--

Seems like you either need to deal with the fact that you need third party apps or deal with what you are given.

mainly because this is not the proper forum for you to even make a suggestion also your OP doesn't even sound like a suggestion, it sounds like you are whining about Weather and the world map not being labelled. You would have better chances here. https://forums.flightsimulator.com/
Maybe you could rephrase a little better and not sound so entitled when you bring the suggestion up, IE calling devs lazy and how easy it is to add such things, when you probably don't have the first clue.

"Welcome to Simming where most of us do not care that there are no labels on the countries of the world... typically we'd be more interested in airports close to POI rather than where Russia is."
Wow... the gatekeeping is strong with this one. If the OP cares about it he is entitled to voice his request. On the other hand you are not the simming authority you envision yourself. Get back in line.

I am a customer and I don't change to have to resort to APPS which take up more performance for VR to run at it's best. Not for me to go adding stuff but for MS to get a complete package.
They gave us 2Flight Plans with 2 Major Updates. They even deleted the first one but I found it.

You know what else, we can set Waypoints to Runways and then use ADD for POI to make round trips yet we can't ADD our own CUSTOM WAYPOINT anywhere we choose. I just visited the peaky islands in North Vietnam which has an Airport close by. I would prefer if I could have Set a Waypoint to go that way so I could just look at the view at 1000ft. I almost missed the amazing views just Taking off.

Come on MS just get these added and don't be dumb about it. It's just too easy.

You can, simply paste the gpd coordinates in the world map and you can add it as a way point.

The easiest way to get the coordinates (in the right format) is to copy them from google maps. Click on the map where you want to go, then click on the decimal format coordinates that pop up. That opens a pane on the left with the coordinates in the correct format for FS2020 to use: for example Hang Sơn Đoòng cave in Vietnam at 17°32'48.9"N 106°08'38.4"E. Paste those in the search box and you have a custom way point you can add to your flight plan.

Or you can download Little Navmap and make detailed flight plans in there to export to FS2020. That will also track your position on real maps.

Again I understand your frustration with them not giving you the country names on the map but again I stress.... I do not know of any pilot that jumps in any plane without having some idea of from and to before they take off. I'm not saying they should not give you your names eventually but it's something I think every pilot just... does before they climb on the aircraft. That's why it's a simulator more or less and not just a game.

What I don't understand is what you are trying to accomplish... if you want to fly from China to the US you simply need to select your departure airport and arrival. It does the rest for you.

If you are speaking of the learning aspect well I do not know each and every way point or alternate airport on my route but I have been learning them as well as navigating around areas where I live. So in my case I only need my airports and flight plan. The country is the same.

So again I fail to see why it can not be easily solved by ...knowing where you are flying?

Sorry not trying to put you down just can't grasp why it's such a huge deal.

Country borders are a political issue and Bing maps is up to 10 years out of date anyway. For example Kosovo, Palestine, Somaliland, Western Sahara, Haileb triangle, South Sudan all have disputed status / borders, and that's just the places I've been to so far.

Then you have tons of enclaves, exclaves, colonies, island states, autonomous cities (for example Gibraltar) and yet to be formed countries like Kurdistan. Capitals are not static either. It's a bit more work than adding 196 names on the map, which is a number that still changes.

Good point. I would rather they work on some of the sim issues for now myself.

It's 196 known Borders which Maps have zero problems dealing with. 1 Man and about 30mins effort to add and check it looks ok. Add a Filter. Simple.

Look around Israel, Palestine, Golan heights and Syria on Google maps, it's all dotted borders, different agreement lines with no mans land in between.

It would be nice to have a filter to add a background map when zoomed in. It can simply grab that off Bing maps. That already has all the borders, no need to do extra work.

Vote here to move it up on the wishlist

Thanks Svennoj. A name is all that's needed. Maps do this.
