Takes WAY TOO LONG to start
Today I decided to time how long it takes this simulator to start. Nine minutes to get to the PRESS TO START screen and then another minute to get to the HOME page. What a piece of work! Yes it's nice once it gets up and running but REALLY? Is there any way to speed up the loading process? I can make a pot of coffee in the time it takes to start this simulator.

SSD might work.

I'm running an I7-7700 at 4.5GHz, 32G RAM, GTX 1080Ti 11G Video card on SSD drives.

As a comparison X-Plane 11 takes 1:58 to start to the home screen and P3D v5 takes 30 seconds.

Now I have been installing mods in the community folder, mostly liveries, one or two aircraft performance mode, a G1000 mod and some city scenery and airports. But no where near the liveries and scenery that I have in either X Plane 11 or P3D.

The content in the Community folder is doing it, they need to address that.
i have ssd and a 3 drive 0 stripe raid with 15k drives, with both setups it loads like a pile of ♥♥♥♥ written by people learning to program for the 1st time,,, wtf is going on with the load times, if this is what we get from such a title, just imagine the vaccine your going to get from Big Bill :steamsalty::2016watermelon:

It takes me 10 minutes to load FS2020 off of an SSD drive.

Yes, nine minutes is waaaay to long. I just timed my first startup of the day on a freshly booted computer this morning. It twas exactly 2 minutes from first click to menu. I do have a lot of stuff in my community folder too, so maybe it's more what's in there and not how much.

My system isn't that great:

i5 9600K
Radeon 580
32GB RAM

Samsung 970 EVO 1T NVME

The sim is installed on another Crucial NVME.

I will have to take a look at that. Right now I'm copying my community folder to my desktop and then will delete everything from there except for the payware I have and see the results.

Mine takes 1 minute 30 seconds (give or take a few) to get to press any key, then a further 2 minutes 30 seconds to arrive at the main menu.

I have my OS on a Samsung NVME and the games content folder on a regular Samsung SSD
i9 9900k, 32gb ram, 2080ti.

Still takes far too long just to get to menu's, imo.

Well looks like I have some more work to do. I removed almost all of the mods I had installed to the community folder and left in the payware scenery and some liveries. Started FS2020 and got to the HOME screen in just over 2 minutes. So there is definitely some stuff that I had installed that greatly affected my load times. Now I will have to start putting things back a little at a time to try to identify what was causing the issue. Thank you all for your information and suggestions. Guess you can't trust a lot of the free stuff that is available, at least not until you install it and see if it has an adverse affect on the load time. Thanks again.

Keep your Community folder as Slim as possible to reduce loading times.

My money is on a terribly done google map photogrammetry dump.

I have all of my liveries reinstalled and some of the mod airports and my load time is 2:15 so that's a lot better than 10 minutes. I have more scenery to load but nothing that is needed at the moment. I will load a couple at a time and check the load time and hopefully find out which one was responsible for the issue.

This is why its a good idea to keep the community folder as clean as possible. :)
