Patch 1.8.3.0 simply fails to download

The Launcher has updated. Open said launcher, select "Update" and it just spends hours fluttering over new-york-jfk.f0.1.40.fspatch with zero progress - the odd magical moment of a bare sliver occasionally shows but is then zeroed out and it just continues over and over and over.

Yes, PC has been restarted - numerous times. Is there some magical cache that can be removed to allow the update to progress?

TBH lucky you as it has made it a frustrating game to play now - yes some bits have improved but having all the lights turn off and on and the AP be unable to operate at all has made it worse than pre patch.
As many have the same issues It would be good to see a patch 1.8.3.1 this week to at least rectify the bits that worked and they broke

Numerous threads on this. Basically Asobo servers flip out if the download speed is too fast and the file download just loops on the big files. You need to install a (free) utility called NetLimiter and with FS20 running set the maximum download speed to 500kb/s. Well you can try going higher, some have suggested 2.34Mb/s works but I still got the looping file bug.

Because this directly or indirectly corrupted the install, many of us are having to download the entire game again - all 100+Gb of it, guess what at 500kb/s (estimate total 56 hours start to finish).

I'd try speeds above 500kb/s, that's pretty low. I'd wager higher speeds will still work.

Definitely try higher speeds at the end of the work day or tomorrow, they could very well make adjustments today.

I had a thread to offer an alternate download method, but It didn't catch any interest.

Threads can be buried easily, my suggestion is to make a guide, then it's easier to discover and you can link to it at any time.

I couldnt update the new patch so I reinstalled the game on another drive. Now I am in a loop with slow downloads. I aint playing this game again.

Just to be sure, did you use the dot or comma as delimiter. When I tried with a dot it would not throttle and the indicator on the window on the right indicated that it had changed 2.34 into 234. Only when I used a comma the speed 2,34 MB/s was set and the install loop was solved.
I assume you already verified if the process was throttling or not but I figured it is still worth mentioning :)

Netlimiter 4 set to 2.34 MB/s solved it for me. Update is worth the effort. Much improved frame rates for me.
