Statistiche:
Rex Weather Force
Has anyone tried this yet with MFS2020? And how do you like it?

I had a Rex weather system before I switched to Active Sky. It was not always correct. I even got in an argument with Rex tech support. When I proved them wrong I never heard from them again, which was alright. As someone told me about Active Sky.

Doesn't mean Rex's new system hasn't improved. Hence the question.

thanks

I might wait and see how the MFS's weather system advances. For me the clouds are fine now, just need a little rain/snow along with correct Live Weather.

It isn't released yet
Was going to say, where is it? But yeah, it's not released. I'm a person who also used REX Sky Force but have been using Active Sky in P3D for quite a while now, Active Sky is just loads better. I'm rather curious to be honest how REX would perform in MSFS so I'll throw $20 at it but no more. I just don't want to pay a lot for something when talk has been brought up of Active Sky coming to MSFS at some point. I would gladly shell out $50 or a tad more for Active Sky in MSFS.

I got this in an e-mail from Rex:

WEATHER FORCE IS THE NEW METAR-BASED DYNAMIC REAL-TIME WEATHER ENGINE FOR MICROSOFT FLIGHT SIMULATOR

By utilizing inter-process communication with the simulator via fine granular control, you will experience automated, dynamic, and smooth weather transitions from real-world reporting metar stations. Weather Force also includes a wide range of our proprietary dynamic, changing (non-static) weather scenarios. These scenarios are unlike the static weather presets that ship with the simulator.

Edit: I just clicked on their website, yow, coming soon.

Did you just get that email? I got it on the 16th.

I am a big Active Sky fan, myself. It's hard to say whether Weather Force is going to do a lot more than be able to gradually change the weather over time, which is fine in itself. Rex does talk a fair bit about using real world weather data, but it also says that it manages that data through its own weather algorithms. That can mean anything.

The visuals of MSFS weather are appealing. How the weather itself interacts with the airplane is a different thing. Maybe Asobo will add much-needed work to make that better, in which case we won't have much need for Weather Force. Or maybe this is it. Either way, I'm prone to wait to see what Active Sky has for 2020.
If it doesn't cost too much I will be the guinea pig and buy it if nobody else offers feedback within a week.

yow, 16th

Unless the reviews are excellent, it'll be Active Sky. Unless MFS improves it's weather system, which I'm sure they will. Just how much.

Plus I like the 2d weather screen Active Sky gives you for the planes, all planes. I think most of the default planes have a weather radar system on board. Which I wasn't expecting.

I'm just waiting on Air Hauler to get it's add-on for MFS going and I'll start playing more. I've done my sight seeing.

Complete and utter trivia: scientists don't use guinea pigs to test things like zero gravity or extreme flight conditions, as guinea pigs are among the few mammals that never suffer from vertigo. So if you generate a hurricane in Weather Force and fly into it, me and my hair-trigger vertigo might have something to say about that.

Lol.

I'm looking for the guinea pig, it's for sale now.

(I'm still an Active Sky Owner though. Used to be a Rex owner and still am on another product.)

Alright, saw it's price of $21.95. I will go ahead and pick it up in a few days and test it at my local airport which is very close and see how accurate it is by walking outside of my house and looking around into the sky.

I'd probably also give it a try while waiting for Active Sky. But I'm still waiting on Air Hauler, he's still working on getting it ready. Until it's ready I'm not ready.

Why would you want REX though? The clouds look great.

It's a weather engine.
It would be great to have better control over wind, precipitation, and humidity, plus dynamic changing weather and weather fronts would make the sim better. Those are the kind of things a weather engine can accomplish. REX might be okay, but Active Sky was/ought to be best in class. In FSX you had all that plus transition smoothing and great configurable tweaks to the aerodynamics of all of the aircraft. Or am I conflating it with Accu-Feel? Well, both together were magnificent.
