Fine to play with mouse & keyboard?
It's such a giant faff to unlimber my HOTAS setup and make space for it on the desk, lol. I was looking for a more chill sim that i can fire up with no prep and leave the HOTAS for the combat sims.

Seen a few say it's fine but the majority so far I've seen say no, joystick or gamepad.

It's terrible to play with mouse and keyboard. It's nothing like x-plane where the mouse and keyboard controls are actually pretty satisfying.

Absolutely you can play with a mouse and keyboard! You won't have hardly any control at all, but you can certainly play.

Use a Xbox controller takes almost no space

I'd suggest an Xbox controller for the combination of ease and convenience. I still use the keyboard for a few commands but the controller can handle all of the basics.

then play google earth... I mean really who doesn't have an xbox controller?!

I don't. 🤷‍♂️

I tried the keyboard & mouse for a bit. Although you "can" do it, the controls are a bit crazy. You have to 'tap' the keys when you need to correct. If you hold them down even just a little to long they'll slam hard right/left. Tapping allowed me to have at least a bit better control.

Like others have pointed out though, a joystick really does make a difference. I plugged mine in and haven't gone back even with limited space on my bed while watching tv.

Anyway... summary, yes you can, try tapping but honestly you'll love yourself and the game a LOT more by using a controller.

Meh, I have an SN30 Pro+ from 8BitDo. Works with PC and Switch. For a flight sim I'd rather use my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick.

I don’t. I’ve never owned any consoles, either.

This sounds like a personal problem. There is no such thing as a "chill" sim. Simulators generally require some sort of synapse activity to both play and enjoy. I'm saying you get out of games what you put into it and if you aren't willing to put the two minutes of work into making a space for your joystick and throttle then (in the likeness of the Aspen Ski Instructor from South Park) youre gonna have a bad time....

Pretty chill compared to other games like shooters, especially if you're doing a longer route in an airliner. I've used games to chill, when I want to be doing something but don't want to go on an adrenaline rush.

Are you okay? lol

Unplayable with a mouse and keyboard setup for two reasons: 1) No mouse yoke option; and 2) primary controls like the rudder auto-center with no option that I can find that can turn them off.

I kind of wish it did have a mouse yoke option though (like X-Plane and all the previous MSFS releases), as I like to keep my desk free myself.
