HELP! FINDING AIRSTRIP 'NV47' (PALOMINO AIRPORT) (MSFS2020 BUSH FLIGHTS)
Hopefully I'm posting correctly here, but has anyone reached this airport yet? can someone guide me? Iv'e been stuck for several hours now trying to find this stupid airstrip. I would not want to use the cheat on the VFR map.

I'm only able to run semi-smoothly on MEDIUM graphics. But even tho i force my computer to ultra graphics, while on pause, I'm still unable to find it.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

I Googled it and the elevation coincides with an airport called Rolling Thunder found north of the Mustang VORTAC on the 344 radial at 18 DME. You can find this airport via SkyVector and use the VFR chart to help navigate.

EDIT: I will go find it and take a screenshot.

There are four or five airstrips near there really close together. Palamino is about 1 mile west of the highway, and a bit more than that northwest of some weird circular fields. I haven't done the bush trips but where is the stop before palomino? Might be easier to direct you that way.

Note where Flying Eagle is (also visible in the screenshot)...

EDIT: Moment, let me double check, think I mistook that for the gliderport.

Just went and looked. It's about a 30 degree heading from KRTS for about 10 miles. You'll see three circular fields then just a bit north and west from those is the field. There is a larger two runway dirt airfield about 1/2 mile west from NV47. This is NV47 https://i.imgur.com/dXqAbzL.jpg

Nah, you're right. That's NV47 from the opposite direction of the shot I took. I landed on it to make sure and the logbook shows it as NV47.

Glider port would have been off your right wing, probably about 1-2 oclock and less than a mile. Can't miss it.

I struggled with this a lot last night. The thing that caught me was their instructions to follow the road as it bends around a "mountain". I saw the highway bending slightly around what looked like a small hill and then, a few miles in the distance, bending significantly around a very big mountain. So I presumed I had to fly to the second, whereas the airstrip was literally right behind the first hill. Also, the airstrip is very difficult to see, even when you know it's there, and is close to a couple of much more visible landing places.

On the other hand, solving these puzzles in an aircraft with no GPS is all the fun of bush flying.

This is one thing that really bugs me about MSFS2020. They're using a dataset that in some cases is 20+ years out of date. Take the start of this bush trip, Breckenridge. Listed as Breckenridge Airport (O64) in California in the sim. O64 has been a heliport in Oklahoma since 1994. The strip they label as Breckenridge Airstrip (O64) is a private strip that the FAA doesn't even list. It shows on sat/aerial maps and it's clearly kept up but it's not a designated airfield with an identifier that I can find. Also the runway is 12/30 not 11/29 in the sim. The runway numbers change over time to to the declination changing about a degree every 10 years. So this is just likely another case where they've used extremely old data that doesn't reflect real life. Much like the non-existent KTUY in the sim. As in there is not nor has there ever been a KTUY and it hasn't been a designated airport in tulsa for 20 years.

None of this makes sense since the FAA makes all their info publicly available and downloadable. There's no reason to be using data that's so old.

Thank you everyone.

My graphics sucks. The obvious landmarks you've guys showed me in your screenshots were no where to be found. I had to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fly in open world and start in that stupid airstrip, which btw, doesn't look like any, and I have finished the other 2 bush missions.

Here is how it looked like on my system:

Anyways. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for helping out, i love this community.

Glad I could be of help! ^_^

I landed and took back off 7 times for this one... just hitting the three or four fields in the area over and over, stopping on the side grass... fingers crossed... eventually it worked... it's in that valley there right near another one and it's very sparse of buildings or markings...

It's the only one that made me land more than once.

Ahh, I can see why you could miss that one. The small grass strips just blend in to the surrounding terrain. Some are even difficult to spot in the satellite maps.

I just did the first leg of this yesterday and a lot of their directions were a bit wonky. All those steps could have been condensed down to "Follow the river and the highway. When you get to the lake just after the town, follow the river out the east side of the lake. When the river turns in a tight curve to the north and the road goes E/NE, follow the road. When you come out of the mountains take a left at the intersection. The airport will be around your 1-2 o'clock position"

And that's essentially what I did. I never saw the bridge mentioned. Finding some of those small strips will be a challenge I'm sure.
