Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 roll-pitch stability
Experiencing roll and pitch stability issues. Sensitivity settings do not resolve this problem. Anyone else run into this? I own the Thrustmaster HOTAS set (Throttle and Joystick). This work well in P3DV5 and earlier versions of FSX.

How much have you messed with the sensitivity? I have the HOTAS-X also and have them set from left to right -80, -80, -50, -80 with 0 deadzone across the board and it works alright. In P3Dv5 I use a sensitivity of 1 and a nullzone of 20 across the board.

You probably have your stick bound to the elevator up/down and ailerons left/right binds. Those binds are for button presses and dont recenter when you stop pressing them. You need to make sure those are unbound and make sure the elevator axis and aileron axis binds are the only thing bound to your sticks pitch and roll axis'.

Hi Gamer Guy, Thanks for the input. Nope, joystick not bound to any other selection other than the Axis L X/Y for joystick Aileron/Elevator controls. I've run the gamut of sensitivity settings with 0 deadzone. -100 to +100 in increments of 10, and still have the roll and pitch instability for those axis. It is not excessive, but it requires constant joystick adjustment, which is not true to life flying. I'm sure the answer will come out in the wash sooner or later. Issues always do.

Thanks again,

Hi Maki
I've made incremental adjustments to the sensitivity settings for the Joystick... even to match your recommendation, but still having pitch/roll instability issues. Check out my answer to Gamer Guy.

Thank you for your response.

Could it be to do with your realism settings? E.g. engine torque?
Or weather - getting thrown around by the wind?
Or perhaps trim is just not quite set correctly?

Hi Kalnaren

Thanks for your reply: Physics (Torque, Gyroscopic Precession, other stuff is set way down and don't seem to cause any effect. Flying the C172s G1000 seems to be fairly stable. Other planes have higher issues with Axis stability (Yaw, Pitch, Roll). I have spent hours rotating through throttle settings: sensitivity, engine torque effects, weather... etc. but don't find the solution. I am beginning to think that it is simply a program issue. We'll continue to hold pattern until some update resolves this problem, meanwhile I will fly the C172s G1000 which seems to be the most stable model. Other than that, love the scenery all around. Also, I hope that SteamVr soon becomes available for this software.

Thanks again,

I did some diving in the cfg files, and a lot of that data is there, it's just set absurdly low for some reason. I upped the adverse yaw by a factor of 10 on the C152 just so it feels normal, for example.

Has anyone heard anything on the SteamVR release for MSFS2020?
