How to activate a key?

I bought a key but it seems it has to be activated on Microsoft. But i have no Microsoft account nor i want one. I want to play it here as i play all my other games here too.
How can i use it in steam?

You have to have a Microsoft account despite having it on Steam.

No you have to have a MS account regardless because of the multiplayer features etc.

It is just like GTA where you have to have a Rockstar account as well as Steam. Flight Simulator uses Microsoft log in for multiplayer etc.

I have it via MS Store only because I have an Xbox and have preordered the Series X and have the game pass so it is included with that, I just paid $79 to upgrade it to the Premium edition.

Why its so complicated? I was now in my ms account and put in the code but cant install it nor find it.

This side told me to activate in Microsoft Store: https://www.cdkeys.com/de_de/pc/spiele/microsoft-flight-simulator-windows-10-pc But the option enter code simply did not exist.

You buy it on Steam or the Microsoft Store.

G2A and got a key. Now it seems its going to be installed via Mircosoft Store. Really complicated.

That site is rather known for money laundering. I wouldn't buy from it, you might get your key revoked.

Until today i had no problems with their keys and its more than 30 keys in the last 2 years. Anyway the Microsoft Store says now this:

At least one item in this bundle has not yet been installed. We keep on trying. However, you can also try to install the affected elements via “Downloads and Updates”.

If you mean you bought the upgrade via the in game marketplace while using a gamepass copy of the game, be warned you only have access to it while having a gamepass subscription.

There was some confusion around what these upgrade actually contained and Microsoft answered some people saying this would entitle them to the complete game if they cancelled their gamepass subscription. When people finally followed through and cancelled gamepass, they lost everything.

Open the Microsoft Store app on your PC. In the upper right corner, click the three dots, then select 'Redeem a Code'.

Once it's redeemed, click the three dots again and select 'Downloads and Updates', and that should show you all your MS Store apps.

Meanwhile it seems to work out. The FS2020 updates will be installed right now.
