How do I turn on player nameplates and enable mid flight weather changing?

name plates are under options, general, traffic

For mid-flight weather you have to make sure that when you start the flight , under flight conditions you make sure multiplayer is set to "All Players" or "OFF(Group Only)". If I have it set on Live Players, I cannot change the weather/time at all, let alone in flight.

Haven't had any issues myself. Just need to be prepared for the sky being pretty cluttered if you have it on all players and are in a well flown area. I turned it off (or turn multiplayer to group only) after a while as it looks bad in screenshots.

skeletor is right, while I haven't had issues, the patch notes do include a performance fix for the name plates
