Real-time weather accuracy?
I'm new to the game, just bought it this weekend. I was excited about the prospect of real-time weather and saw all these articles this weekend about people flying into Hurricane Laura. Today we have thunderstorms moving through our area in the Dallas / Ft. Worth metroplex. I was excited to see what it would look like in the game. I was disappointed when the game looked nothing like real life, just a cloudy sunny day when I'm seeing dark storm clouds all around me. Does the real-time weather actually work for anyone?

Yes, there is a problem.

I believe it isn't working yet. Or it works at the beginning of a session and then glitches out.

It's hit or miss. It's one of the known issues (at least from users' perspective) with it at the moment. Not sure if the dev team have acknowledged it or not. It wasn't on the list of known issues I read some days ago.

I've had times / places where the weather conditions in-game matched the real world weather reports, sometimes it doesn't.

But last week we had a huge storm roll through here that was very localized, and it was modelled at least reasonably accurately in game. I was flying just outside of the storm system, monitoring my position with the VFRMap pluging and comparing it to a weather map. From what I could tell it was accurately sized and positioned when compared to actual real-world weather radar and satellite imagery readings.

Yesterday it was a crappy, rainy day here all day, and local conditions in game were mostly clear.... Go figure.

This is my goto source for where to find weather in the USA

Checking that map I just loaded the airport in Ft Smith AR and it was POURING rain with a zero ceiling...you just have to be where the weather is, I think :lunar2019smilingpig:
Small storms don't seem to count for much...look for the big cells.

Believe it or not the first week never worked for me at all. This last week works all time. I can tell it’s working when I can’t change weather settings manually T all, without going to options and changing the main setting.

Live WX has not been to bad for me. My main issue is the wind speed. There dose not seem to be wind aloft layers if you watch the wind speed/direction on the Garmin units. In fact it seems to read 2/3 knots from 270 most of the time in all conditions and altitude.

thats been reported by a lot of people on the official forums. Apparently it works for people better in Europe, supposedly.

Either way lots of complaints so probably going to get noticed.

It's been working for me for about a week now every time, unless I create a new flight. I even experienced some ground winds last night and had to land my 172 with almost full rudder! Atis was reporting 16 knots I think. The metar from the same field was over 20 and the direction was 220 versus 150, so not accurate, but at least active.
