You may try going to
C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator --> UserCfg.opt
Open the file with notepad, go to the bottom line
change the installation path manually (make sure the designated folder has been created already)
Save and close the file. Start the game again.
But I don't understand how to change that path on the bottom with my new one ? I have opened the file with Notepads btw. Some help would be highly appreciated.
The funny thing is that I already have 42 hours of flight time, but I had to reinstall my OS, and now I experience what all the other people here experience... incredibly annoying, to say the least.
I am not sure what you mean here. I didn't mean this file. The file has to be "UserCfg.opt".
Once you find it, use notepad to open it. Scroll to the bottom line you will see the default path. You can change it and save and close the file. Start the game and see.
One more question, do you have 90 gb of space in your system drive?
MSFS2020 update
I'm so confused right now. I HAVE been playing the sim for more than 100 hours, but after I had to reinstall my OS, when I try to launch the sim and I come to the install/update page, it says that I will have to install to my OS drive, and this can't be changed. However, I found a post that suggested I change my "userCfg.opt" file and change the installation path. I have done that now, and the game is installing. The size of the file is 95,15 Gig. What I wonder about is if this will create an entirely new instance of the msfs2020 on that drive, doubling the occupied space on that drive ? Or is this just an update ? On the Microsoft installation page I get the options "browse" and "update" By the way, I changed the update path to ( D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator\Packages ) where D: being my external SSD with the sim in it. Does this sound roughly right to you guys ?
So if you or anyone else in this thread see this, please feel free to reply.
