Solved:How to delete the manual cache ?
I set the cache to 50 GB
Now I wanted to shrink it back to around 2 GB but it doesn’t work.

Can we only expand the cache ?

Can I delete it in the app data folder or dies it cause problems ?

———————————-

SOLVED :
I have deleted the MANUALCACHE.CCC file in the appdata folder and the game runs fine afterwards.

And the manual cache is now 0 GB again

Don’t mix up with the rolling cache
I didn’t delete the rolling cache !

I personally have my manual cache settled at 30 GB.
I've downloaded now Boston and it has a size of 19.77 GB.

When I leave Boston, I will copy the MANUALCACHE.CCC to another folder and delete the city in the game to be able to download another city without extremly low fps.
Whenever I return to Boston, I have my copy to take it back again.
This should solve the low fps problem at least temporary, I think.

I've heard that people did it, but I never tried it myself. :O

The best way I've found to do that is to have a path something like F:/MFS Local Cache/"City Name". Set it at 25 or 30 GB and add the city. When you want to add cities just add another city name folder and cache it also. You just have to change the path in the game for the city you want to fly..

But how GB you need for a city in mid or best quality ?
I know it depends on the size of the city and suburbs

I didn't know the game would be fine with this. I give it a try, thanks!

This is the image from Boston I've taken.

The length and height of the Medium Quality "rectangle" is roughly 40 x 40 miles, to give you an idea.
The file size was 19.77 GB.

If you take a part of a city which doesn't have Photogrammetry data, then the file size will be drastically smaller. Only like 50 MB for these parts. (Because it's only 2D data)

I look at Bing Maps and see if the "View bird's eye" option is available and not grayed out to know which parts of the city has Photogrammetry data and which not. (I hope this is the right way to do it)
My Medium Quality "rectangle" of Boston has only Photogrammetry data, provided FS2020 is up to date with bing maps. I could even go farther.

Btw : Too many parts of Boston in FS2020 have waaaay too many trees which are too big and lush also. These parts look almost like a forest....
The poor citizens seem to never see the sunlight....

I saw the same in Seattle, but not so intense.

They gotta love their trees! Lol! :D
I actually have trees standing on my garage driveway growing out of my car! Hehehe... :b

Please read this page (need forum subscription) to learn how to deal with rolling cache and manual cache:

I do not recommend deleting files directly in folders

But the link you've given says exactly the same :

In order to delete the entire Manual Cache you first need to delete all the manually cached regions you created. Open MSFS, go to the Manual Cache interface and delete all your custom regions.

Once they are eliminated, close MSFS and navigate to “C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache”. Once in this folder you will see a MANUALCACHE.CCC file that was created when you originally set up the manual cache. Simply delete this file.
