Upgrade Bundle Confusion

I pre-ordered the Standard Edition and downloaded it on launch day. (hour!) It's totally my fault that I didn't to more research into the different versions, and sort of noticed there was a Cessna 172 in the Standard Edition, so I went with that one since it's the aircraft that I most want to fly. I didn't notice that it was a G1000 model. Not a big deal, and I don't mind paying for the upgrade, even though it would have been quite a bit less expensive to just get a Deluxe or Premium Deluxe.

So I've decided to go ahead and upgrade, but the options within the game to upgrade are pretty confusing. The options on the "Official Content" tab within the marketplace are:

1. Deluxe Upgrade Bundle: $79.99
2. Premium Deluxe Upgrade: $84.99
3. Premium Upgrade: $99.99

Option #2 seems to include everything that option #3 has, but for $15 less. There is no "Premium" version that I see, only a Premium Deluxe. Sort of confusing how this is listed.

Has anyone done an upgrade? I'm hoping that the download is much less than the original!

I think you need to upgrade to Premium Upgrade because you are on Standard. Premium Deluxe upgrade is for Deluxe owners.

The pricing is very confusing, don’t try to make sense of it lol. But the way they have it, it’s cheaper for you to get the highest bundle instead of just the next level up.

How many hours have you run the program for, not including download time? It might be better to just get a refund and repurchase.

I'm not looking for a cost-cutting way to upgrade. I'm just pointing out how confusing the options are. There is no such version as "Premium", yet there is a "Premium Upgrade".

For those interested...the Premium Deluxe Upgrade is a 3.79GiB download. Not too bad!

Get the Premium Deluxe upgrade - that is the one you want - it includes everything. I have done this upgrade and everything is there, both in Content manager , Marketplace, ("owned" label) and in the sim.


Yes I know Prem/Deluxe is cheaper then the "Premium" upgrade - even though it has 10/10 vs 5/5. Get it before they realize ;)


The Premium upgrade seems to be for people who have the Deluxe already and want to go up - which yes, means they spent/would spend WAY more total then they should have to.

Yep. Just relaunched with the new upgrade, and like you said, it shows "owned" on the more expensive "Premium Upgrade". Now off to fly the 172!

Good to see you got it sorted out. And just to clear up the upgrades, as I've seen quite a few questions regarding the differences:

* Deluxe upgrade, $79.99: Contains the five planes and five airports from the Deluxe Edition of the game. $7.99 per item.

* Premium upgrade, $99.99: Contains (only!) the five planes and five airports unique to the Premium Deluxe Edition of the game. $9.99 per item.

* Premium Deluxe upgrade, $84.99: Contains all ten additional aircraft and airports; equivalent to the Premium Deluxe Edition of the game. $4.25 per item.

As for the pricing, I'm as confused as everyone else. I can only assume the extra cost for the Premium vs the Deluxe is because of the Boeing 787. And then I guess the significantly reduced cost of the Premium Deluxe is simply to entice people to just get everything in one go.

Come on - I would get Extreme Upgrade if it was available. Everyone knows THAT is the ultimate...hmmm...maybe "Ultimate Extreme"?

Besides it is "Premium Deluxe" - that makes all the difference in the world!.. "Deluxe Premium" sounds like "jelly and peanut butter"...ewww.
