Map accuracy depends on Bing Maps™ accuracy which ranges from fairly new to maybe up to five years out of date (in most regions, some regions that aren't friendly to Microsoft are worse). Plus there are some issues with the world generator which can create some unusual results, but considering basically the planet is a map, it's quite good.
Flight Simulator X just looks so much much more barren in comparison! I hope to pick this game up soon!

Yes indeed, there are several roads, places under construction in the game while irl it has been finished years ago
No. I mean, maybe if you live in NY or so. Handcrafted areas are pretty nice. In my town, my house looks like a brown block, created from russian architects. Has nothing in common with reality. But the enviroment makes it possible to say like: "Ey look, there are those trees, there is the lake, so this building on the corner must be my house." Like that
