mid-flight a bit boring?
I'm a complete flight noob but it seems most time between taking off and landing you pretty much just set autopilot on and do nothing? Yeah it's relaxing and you can enjoy the view but other than that it's a bit uneventful. Is that how it is in real life?

I think there's away to skip to different parts of the flight.

Try doing some pattern work. You're always turning, climbing, descending, landing, changing airspeed, changing configuration, running checklists... lots of busy work.

This is why I make only 2hour flights and not more. Actually I fly from Germany to Japan. But I make always 2 hour flight plans and jump from airport to airport. And start on the next day on the same last airport. After some days I would arrive Japan.

For long flights, you can speed up the sim rate by hitting the "R" key, followed by ctrl and the numpad + Pressing ctrl and numpad - will reduce the speed. You can press the keys multiple times to further speed up or slow down as required

Unfortunately there is no display indicator to tell you what the rate is.. I end up looking at the instrument clock which should speed up when you increase the rate. Just remember to decrease it to the normal level when you get to the destination airport otherwise landings will be impossible!

you just throw things around that the sim never mentions ONCE and has no documentation for, how is a new user supposed to know those things even exist?

I still thing the program does a very poor job explaining anything except basic "how to not crash immediately in a cessna"
Turn on flight checklist....its in the top menu right there.

Yesterday i flew over the whole of the USA W > E and drank nearly 12 pint cans of cider it was cool. Just chilled mostly on showcase.
Point is if u want it to be relaxing make it relaxing, Otherwise plan routes and fuel up here and there and make many stops.
It's what you make of it.

Don't go for a job as an airline pilot ;-)

I just can't get tired of looking around outside, and looking at Google Maps to see what places I'm flying over. It's such a cool, good looking game.

Agree it's just amazing. and the fact you can copy and paste in coordinates and start anywhere ;-)

No offence, well maybe... But, Are people really this ignorant?

"mid-flight a bit boring?"

You're what's wrong with the world today.

I'm not going to go into anymore detail than that.

Think about it...

You ever been on a plane before dude? On long flights, what do you usually do? You listen to music, watch a movie, take a nap, ect right?

When I'm doing flights that last longer than 45 minutes total, I usually pop on youtube and watch some videos while my plane flies on. Also helps to have more than one screen. =P

+1 We are now separating the Men from the Boys, so-to-speak, or the casual gamer from the serious simmer.

In my defense I only stick it on after I've set the autopilot lmao

I alt tab over to OnAir Company Manager and do all my company stuff while i'm hauling freight or passengers on my flight. It's a worthy addition to the sim, you should look into it.
