REVERSE THRUSTERS - Why cant we map a button on joystick for REDUCE THROTTLE to allow REVERSE THRUSTERS
I can't believe that MS have not addressed the reverse thrusters being mapped on a joystick/HOTAS device. Obviously throttle works fine, the answer would be simply allow the user to map the REDUCE THROTTLE (currently F2) on the HOTAS and also CLOSE THROTTLE (currently F1), this then would allow you to throttle back, then press reverse thrusters on throttle stick, then close throttle to reset. The only other way would have a THROTTLE CALIBRATION option where the user can set the min to max throttle range (say 25% to 100% movement for throttle range), and below that (25 to 0% is reverse thrusters). Either solution would work fine, I don't want to use the keyboard when requiring reverse thrusters. I have a Thrustmaster HOTAS 4 which has loads of buttons to map and has always worked fine with previous simulators.

Yeah, I don't know why it's not possible, but you don't need all those throttle settings. X-plane just lets you assign "reversers" to one button. You close the throttles, hit the reverser button and push full throttles. Reverse the sequence at 80 kts.

yeah there's a toggle button too. not sure what the OP is on about

But isn't recalibrating the idle to be at 25% a bit difficult to control. You don't know where exactly on the throttle to make it idle.

Unless it's supported with some spring mechanism on the throttle hardware itself. Like Idle is on 25%, but when you push backward there's a spring mechanism that will give you some resistance for the reverse thrust. When you lift your pressure, it'll snap back to the 25% idle position by default (like a joystick). But pushing forward is just like normal.

I guess for now, we just need to remap that F2 and F1 to the hotas button somewhere.

I agree big oversight. Was easier in FSX to setup. Can't seem to set it up with my CH thrust quadrant..

It seems like it should be doable to map them on the same axis. Just a case of checking what range the slider is in and inverting thrust based on that. I would definitely keep asking them about it.

Until then if anyone is really desperate I imagine you can do it with third party apps that can read your throttle input and send something else to FS2020 (ie AutoHotkey). Though it would probably be sending a repeated keypress for 'increase reverse thrust' rather than analog input.

Thanks Marshalchanter, found it! It was filtered to show only mapped keys. For those who could not find it, just toggle filter to 'ESSENTIALS' and its there. @lefty1117 not that helpful when stating "not sure what the OP is on about"

i have a thrustmaster hotas 2 which i purchased ages ago just to get into flight sims and cant configure reverse thrust cannot even locate a key for it on the keyboard ?
i can operate it with the mouse but by the time i have looked down to where it is and operated it i have usually left the runway and in a field somewhere :lunar2019grinningpig:

yeah seems reverse is porked. TM Warthog

Same same, Thrustmaster hotas

Yeah, reverse is screwed up. And the hold work around is odd, to press a button and go full throttle. I just move my throttle stick all the way back and press and hold F2 (or mapped key) and it reverses. Would still like to map it to my thrust quadrant. In FSX I mapped my reverse button (stick full back) to decelerate and had repeat turned on. they just need an action like full reverse you can map to a button. ideally for each engine.

Cheers for that , i was unaware that F2 would operate the reverse thrust guess i should of looked at the keyboard settings :winter2019happybulb: still wish i could map it to my Thrustmaster hotas 2 but its better than nothing i guess :lunar2019coolpig:

This is why I avoided taking the Jet and Airliners for the time being. Maybe I was used to the PMDG 777, 737 and Aerosoft A320 reverse thrust in FSX that its a habit when I land, I press F2 for the reverse thrust to take effect. Also I cannot find the button/key to armed the spoilers.

Anyway, maybe a few more training will makes me get used to it until PMDG and Aerosoft release their own aircraft for this sims.
