Bing Maps are awful

The map in use is almost 6 years out of date in my current hometown, that is ridiculous, i live outside of Raleigh, NC and my home site is just a pile of dirt in the sim. Can someone mod in Google Maps lol.

Short answer, I doubt it given the connected nature of the game and reliance on photgrammetry tools and such.

Also, this is not necessarily a Bing problem. I know of a few locations including my current residence on Google that are > 5 years old as well. Sucks your current area is outdated like that though.

There is a way to import Google photogrammetry/terrain data into Blender, so it might be doable

My house was built in 2013 and it's not on Bing Maps. It's on Google Maps and I believe even Apple has more recent data of my area.

I guess I'll have to wait for Google's Flight Simulator, sigh.

People's expecations are too high. Its not bing maps, the game. Its a flight sim. We never concerned ourselves with flying over our houses before.

I mean if we did it was a flat texture we downloaded ourselves and side loaded into the sim.

People lost the plot.

A) areas don't change that much visually in a decade

B) mapping the entire freaking planet is a LOT of work. They can't just do it every few years.

Addon developpers can make their own scenery by pulling Google data though

Probably because they think this is able to pull enough data to render everything. I don’t even care if my house is on this sim anymore, I’ll just hover over my hometown, and if I see my house and my school, or not, I’d be contented either way.

Go play X-Plane and find your house. Hint: It isn't there. Not even a texture.

Also go play Google Flight Sim. Oh yeah...good luck on that one.
