this is an arcade game?
no pun intended

i have all the flight simulators even the first one to ever exist
i have x-plane 11 which runs meh on amd cards but i managed to make it work
i have prepar v4 an d5

all the above fly like real planes

ive seen a lot of official forums where people that fly real life (including me cessna 152 ppl)
and i mean also guys who do all othe rplanes say that the game is too buggy. but when it is not buggy its too easy. kinda like an arcade game. that the physics are underwhelming and not in line with reality

obviously a sim will never be exactly reality
but according to them the visuals look good all the rest is rubbish

this is keeping me from buying this. are there any unbiassed people here?
meaning no rabid fans but also no blind haters. just sane people that can tell me in an unbiased view wether this is true or false or maybe both a bit??????

also worth to note the landing is too easy and the take off even in weather circumstances. look i dont have the game so i have the least right to even critisice the game. but i just want people to inform me the correct way

There's different settings in game that people can change. Easy for Arcade, Middle Ground for in-between arcade and full sim. And then there's hard, which is full simulator experience.

You push the wrong switch and the wrong time, session will end.

hey neo thanks man i know you from the other forum
very kind that you reply

but how does that go in comparison with fsx and prepar 5 i mean qua physics? surely if you go full sim its harder. but are the physics like in fsx and co or better? i know its a tuff question. but i would make me feel more secure
buyers remorse has kicked in quiet a lot last year. and im but a middle class citizan

I definitely like this better than FSX. But I haven't really used X-Plane or any of the other flight simulators. So I can't answer that.

But then again, I'm still playing on my Xbox controller while I'm still waiting for my Logitech X56 to arrive in my mail. So I haven't gone that fully into the game. It's good enough for me. It has a lot more realism than compared to FSX, even on Middle-Ground setting, that's for sure.

I guess if you don't want buyers remorse. Try out with the Xbox game-pass demo for $1 for the first month in your Microsoft Store, you'll get access to the game and that should be plenty of time for you to play around and get the feel of things.

If you like it and continue, then it won't be a buyers remorse if you end up buying the full copy. Plus the Premium Deluxe if you want more value.

Why don't you try on gamepass for $1 and refund if you don't like?

It's more of a sightseeing / sandbox flying sim/game with heavily empasis on Bing Maps and the buildings/landmarks.. I hope in the future we will have flightschools, lessons, licenses, cargo/passengers, manuals, real checklists, more buttons on the cockpit. More sim and trail/error. Sightseeing / Sandbox is fun, but can get boring fast. I want to learn how to fly according to real life rules and all that. I am even amazed the lessons in the Cesna doesn't even feature how to turn on the transponder, lol.

I also got very confused by some recent videos and streams.

How come, you get to see impossible maneuvers with an airliner, that would result in hull breaks or massive stalls in one region without crashing, but bouncing off the runway like a rubberball, and then crashing due to coming off the runway, touching grass a bit when trying to land in another region?

I've seen this in a live stream on twitch, there was no change in settings or prefs done at all between thise two situations.

A couple of tries with the bouncy bouncy aerobatics without the chance to crash at all. Then he started at a different location with the same plane and had a more sensitive damage model it seemed, also registering crashes.

This seems at least heavily inconsistent, if the location of your flight had influence on physics.

I won't purchase this, at least for the moment. If this game is really the expected platform for sim standards, it will need some serious fixes to come. But if it turns out to be a mainstream arcade-ish eycandy-only wanna-be game, it's just a marketing hyped hoax.

I hope for the first mentioned, but only time will tell.

The launch yesterday was extremely unprofessional, at least for this platform here.

Teasing people over months and then delivering such an poor rollout could be some warning signal, at least for those who expect a proper simulation to purchase.

Well, let's hope for a bright future...

What I will say is that it largely feels like FSX to me. Perhaps the planes have less of a tendency to deviate from course. I am in no way a professional or amateur pilot and I can't tell you how realistic it is, but I can tell you the modern flight model with no assists (other than the taxiing markers) feels like FSX but a little more forgiving.

However, there is an option to switch to a "legacy" flight model, which I assume is like the flight models of old. If that's what you want.

Its not even a game. Unless you’re into planes, frankly it’s just a scenic tour which you don’t need the game to do.

Wish it had a built-in game like Euro or American Truck Simulators based around movement of passengers and cargo.

Exactly what he said, there is zero gameplay content no campaign or anything, just explore the world which is fun for about an hour.

Challenges is the closest you will get to content and its not.

You can't compare this to a normal game - the installation and hook up process to the 2 petabyte world information servers (so connect with Microsoft servers and hardware) is something totally different, then just the common game with it's content just being in the installed folder. Definitely you can control the degree of complexity in many different ways (remember, this flightsim is suppose to run on a XBOX console, too, having just a game controller, so yes, just that people with no experience can at least enjoy to travel the world in birds eye view). The complexity settings are way more detailed, then you could do for instance in X-Plane ...

This simulator got developed by people, who are actually realworld pilots, it got developed in cooperation with airplane manufacturers and their test pilots. Do people actually believe, all those developers and test pilots just sat down and discuss and test all that stuff, just to come up with a arcade plane game ??

I was a alpha tester since december 2019 - and in the alpha forum there were many real world pilots, who discussed and announced problems and all.

I've used X-Plane from version v9 to the now v11.50 beta 17 - and i'm switching now from X-Plane to MSFS2020 - finally to have the next generation of flighsimming in my hands. Everything i've triede to fix in X-Plane, make lighting of day and night and nightlights look more realistic, try to add fps-eating better clouds, calculating my own many gigabytes large ortho-ground-textures (just for Germany i needed 450 GB of ortho-textures - insane) - and more and then adding all this getting lower and lower fps until not playable - and it never ever looked and felt as great as the MSFS2020 gives me right from the start. The new Vulcan system implemented in X-Plane now really helped adding about 10 to 15 fps , which helps a lot, but still, it's now looking and feeling for me now as an technically old leftover from the past - the same as the latest version of the FSX was. Yes, X-Plane has a good and realistic airplane and behaviour system, no doubt, but so does the new MSFS2020, if setup right. But here with MSFS2020 you have already right at start something, which X-Plane only gets only near, when adding tons and tons of addons, which could break X-Plane on your machine really easy - and it costs a lot of money, to even get close to the content this MSFS2020 already has rightaway.

I move on now to something more 2020 like ... i've spent many years with the older Microsoft flightims and X-Plane, which looks for me now kind of "cartoonish", it's time to work with something more Next-Gen ...
I know, that there are simmers that will say, that they don't care, how it looks like outside, as long the airplane has a great cockpit and realistic flight systems. But come on - each airplane has windows and i believe most of the humans are in awe, when they are up in the sky and see the real worlds beauty in birds eye view - flying through or over crazy cloud systems, layers and shapes.
And that i only will get with this new MSFS2020 right out of the box - all the other flightsims, as good as they are, can't deliver this, way too old base engine.

And most of the 3rd party developers, which produced addons for X-Plane, Prepar3D and such are on board here, to bring new products to this new MSFS2020 ...

Well said....

I can easily compare how fun it is versus how much you pay here and now and for 70 euro a few hours is a ripoff.

It could have been made by spacemen for all i care, would never pay anything over 10$ for this.

And that plan for the game doesn't mean anything to me, just means they will add more filler to charge more money, that's exactly what that means.

I certainly think the preview footage permitted by Asobo and MS put this in a different light to what people are now experiencing. I wouldn't dismiss it as an Arcade game but it is firmly in the purview of entertainment software - it is after all getting an accompanying Xbox release.

It's not a ripoff IMHO ...

I mentioned in my posting above, that you will get access to a special server with real world data with a size of over 2 PetaBytes .... that is 2000 Terabytes - i have 3 and 4 Terabyte harddiscs in my PC - so if you would buy at least 500 of 4 Terabyte HDs , you could store that data at home ... do you have 500 HDs ??

Most of the better online MMORPGs let you pay a monthly fee (like around 10 pounds or so), that you are able to even move in that gaming world around, which is a lot smaller, then the data needed for this whole world information made available to you - and you DON'T pay a monthly fee to let you use it.

For X-Plane for instance i've purchased before two Ortho-addons, which make those landscape and buildings look in X-Plane like it looks in MSFS2020 out of the box. I've payed about 70 dollars for those - it was most of Great Britain and Washington state. That's just a really, really small fraction of the world's surface and i payed 70 $ and i needed 600 GB of storage space for it ... Calculate the whole world surface to buy that way (which is not available for a long time that way, not talking about the money to pay for those addons and the storage hardware needed).

So yes - why not pay a little extra money for the base product and then you have it all - with no payment to make after it - and that monthly repeating for as long as you would be using the program.

BigVern -
i have no problem with it at all, that everyone can experience this in their way. Just because X-Plane or Prepar3D don't have those settings included, doesn't mean, you can't do it.
And did you know, that there is a X-Plane app version, which you can buy in the Android and Apple store, that you can play X-Plane on a "Smartphone" ????
Mmh ... and i thought, X-Plane is a very serious and only for professionals flightsim ...

Anyway - why should i care about any individual thinking and thoughts about anything - each person does have their opinion ...
I'm happy with this sim - using flightsimulators since the beginning of home gaming (beginning 1980s ....). I've lived through all the developement states of different flightsims appearing over the past few decades - i've seen the evolution and this is for me now, in 2020, the right step.
