You can disable all the nag alerts and ATC warnings and just do what ya like.
Also, you aren't the only one that does that, so don't feel bad. Despite how things are perceived, a lot of people are super casual.
Skew mode lets you cheat, basically disable physics so you can manually move the craft with pin-point precision if you wanted to get a look at stuff without using any skill. Then turn the sim back on and glide around from there.

That's a relief. I know I'm no flight simmer, but I'm persistent bastard and I was able to land well in FSX using PMDG MD-11 after disabling some switches to allow it to control on keyboard well.
