Server not responding on listen servers
Does anyone have resolved this problem. When I create a listen server that is not LAN my friends get the Server not responding message ... when they create servers it is the same ... we just cant play together unless we invade some dedicated server and this is rude and we have to wait a lot because we are 6 people ...

Ok I found a sollution. Aparently you have to open those ports on your router:

7707 UDP (Game)
7708 UDP (Query)
7717 UDP (GameSpy)
8075 TCP (WebAdmin)
20560 UDP (Steam)
28852 TCP & UDP (Master Server Browser)

go into your HTML menu for the router and find the way to open those and it will be ok after that

Yes, I should've mentioned that all ports are forwarded as they should be. I've created and played on listen-servers before. This is a new problem for me. If this was the solution for you, then good 4 u ;)

^ This.

I also have all ports open. Only workaround I have is to make a dedicated server externally and set a password on it. Bit of a ballache but it's a method at least.

Just found out, that my ip has changed, so the ports were forwarded to the wrong IP... Check your router if the IP-adress is still correct. If you're online we could give it a try since my friends are all offline and I want to know if it works now desperately ;)

Just to be clear here, it's necessary for all games (and software) that use dedicated servers. The server is waiting for inbound unsolicited connections and thus, the ports need to be open and forwarded in the gateway (in a NAT environment).

I did it ... go to portforward.com and they have everything you need. A program to make your IP staic and the ports for every game and even a program to check your ports. Gonna try it tonight and post the results :)

OK guys this works there are few steps I played today with my frineds on my listen server

1. Make your IP static with this free program: http://portforward.com/help/setup_static_ip_address.htm

IMPORTAINT !!!! REMEMBER YOUR STATIC IP !!!!! write it down somewhere

2. Open your HTML browser and enter your internal IP adress, if you dont know it use this http://portforward.com/networking/routers_ip_address.htm

3. In your rooter menu find where you can forward ports and add all of the above:

7707 UDP (Game)
7708 UDP (Query)
7717 UDP (GameSpy)
8075 TCP (WebAdmin)
20560 UDP (Steam)
28852 TCP & UDP (Master Server Browser)

IMPORTAINT !!!!! the ports should be forwarded to your STATIC IP no other and no blancs only for the static IP you have set in step 1

save and exit ... restart if you wish and enjoy your private listen server ...

dont forget to put password or other people will be able to join randomly.

Followed those steps by the book. Rebooted router AND computer. Ports still say closed.

I give up. Dedicated works, I'll stick with that. Just means that ALL other games will have t cpntinue to use Hamachi or Tunngle.

Props to sexyfrogdude.

Other possible troubleshoots can be found in the "listen servers borked" thread. Just search for it in the discussions.
