SERVER NOT RESPONDING!

this message...is the reason my friends no longer play this game. This error, while trying to join friends, needs to be fixed. otherwise i'm through with this game. I shouldn't have to "work around" the problem. The problem needs to be addressed and fixed.

Also delete Killing Florr SDK and the steamappid file if created. Delete Defense Alliance. Unsubscribe from Workshop mods. Since the coding issue in Dec associated with the Winter event, these have been causing intermittent problems with connection.

Yea, I'm going that now, Bigguns. I got the same error with servers right after getting the DA Mod. Thanks for letting me know that my suspicions were correct!

Try this for whoever hosts the game: go to the killing floor folder then system folder and open KillingFloor.ini. Change UPNP Enabled to false.

Yes rezerkity, i enjoy playing games with my friends. Especially games like killing floor... there's no storyline. Its a repetative game of survival...one that was created to be played with friends. Its way fun, but not alone.

Another setting you might have to deal with when hosting a listen server in your killingfloor.ini is:
ServerBehindNAT=False Set it to True

these two fixed my listen server connection problem for me thanks ;)

All in the guide. Also unchecking Dynamic Net Speed has helped people. Consolidated all the fixes to the guide.

Easy way around it is view your friends game info, copy the server ip and open your console and type in the following:

open KillingFloor://insert server ip here

or even easyer when you get the server not responding message copy the IP then go to multiplayer>friends>right click>open IP>paste>press enter ... voila ...

Beside the fact that the OP is using the work around, why are people reposting fixes that are part of the first post? To me it would make it confusing for others who read the thread.

The friends tab doens't work properly. When a friend is in a game and you get the "Server is not responding"- message, then:
-Copy the IP number that you see of that server. ( you see it on the "Server is not responding"-window.
-Enter multiplayer and Internet games tab.
-Right click and choose open IP
-paste the IP and press OK.
