Flare revolvers OP?
Am I the only person who think that they are a bit over powered? The damage on hit is very high, and coupled with the burn damage (which works with every class) the flare revolvers are very powerful, but are they a bit, too powerful? I don't really know to be honest, it's just something I thought about when using the dual flare revolvers + medic tactic for the the patriarch for the umpteenth time. It's a common tactic nowadays, and to me it seems a bit too easy.

When I say this, I'm not saying it IS too easy, and I'm certainly not calling for a nerf. I'm just suprised that few people have expressed this opinion, the kind of people who thought of the chainsaw patty tactic (if you don't know what I mean then never mind with this example).

ppffttt ah ♥♥♥♥ it, the whole IJC DLC is OP, with the exception of the weak AK47 version named the Tommygun.
Yeah i use to Flares as medic, can quickly kill a Scrake with Dual Flares on normal.
Like i said, only crap thing about Flares is the off perk reload speed.

i wouldn't say the flare revolvers are OP. They work the a bit the same way as trench gun. even off-perks can fire shots that sets zeds on fire. Flare revolvers and trench gun are more like neutral weps like the Z.E.D. gun. every perk can use them but some perks have some bonuses. I have often played support specialist with trench gun and Z.E.D. gun because they make a good combo.

i think you maybe should read about those weps on wiki

Fortunately they couple the immense base damage with some unholy recoil. This weapon has a massive ammo supply! If they decided at one point to nerf they should think of reducing the ammo pool of the weapon

I also think they're overpowered. The maximum ammo could do with being dialled down a bit, and the damage by maybe 10 or 20 percent. (I'd want to find that out by experiment.) Flare pistols would remain light, inexpensive, and allowing rapid fire. They're just too good at the moment. Commandos lighting up the patriarch every time he approaches are bad enough; with the high impact damage as well things have become a bit too easy.

Gyrojets (e.g. flare rounds) actually do very little damage at close range, in the real world, because they have to accelerate.

Even if u think they are op, this isnt a competetive game, and rarely does someone use it, so yeah...

The flare guns weren't introduced in the IJC weapon pack, they are from the last xmas event in 2012. But yeah I agree the offperk reload time is a bit of a ♥♥♥♥♥, but to me they are still OP. As others have said, ammo capacity. Interestingly enough I thought of this while killing scrakes on normal :D

I agree that OP weapons aren't as much of an issue in a coop game, but there is still the problem that some OP weapons #cough m99# can make the game too easy. They allow players to easily get past the patriarch without developing the skill that should be required to do so.

I've seen a berserker lvl3 soloing the patriarch in hard with one flare revolver. All other 5 players dead and the berserker survived just using the damn gun, so yeah, its OP for me.

I realise that the flare guns aren't OP to the extent that the m99 was, and arguably still is. However as you say they can be very effective offperk, which despite being nice, to me makes them OP. Consider how easily even an incompetent team can kill the patriarch with flare revolvers, most of the time whilst using them offperk. Also to me the trench gun doesn't have the ammo offperk to be as effective as other support loadouts could be, but of course the trench gun is sexy so I never mind anyone using it offperk. I once saw someone using it as a medic against a fleshpound on HOE as a medic, after they had been dismembered I just told them they had swag.

I'll bet a lvl 0 could do it on HOE as well

I agree, the damage could be reduced, or even just the ammo capacity. However the trouble with reducing ammo capacity is that the flare revolvers lack the precision to be able to make up for a small ammo pool.

You can solo the Pat with an axe if you know what your doing. I solo the Pat with the Xbow and other weapons on hard and above. Soloing the Pat with a weapon does not mean its OP

I'm sure you can, but an inexperienced zerk lvl3 on hard? Also note that it was a 6-players game, pat had much more HP

Im gonna open pandoras box and say its because the Zerker has the lowest skill ceiling of all the perks. Since Paty is only One Zed that spawns lesser Zeds, they can out run it for ever, even a Medic can Solo a Paty because of the Run Speed.

Though I do find it funny that these Zerkers who run around in a full game usually die first on Paty wave.

So how many hours did the guy have in playing? Did he have 2000 hours and just never leveled up his zerk? Did he reset his stats? Did he spend time reading the guides and practicing on test map? A level 3 with some skill can crush it on hard, and soloing the pat is no big deal.

He could have solo'd the pat much faster with the buzz saw bow than the flare gun, probably half the time or faster.
