I'm done with this game (Perks not updating)

Okay... So I am a relatively new player to killing floor, with 10 hours logged. I am having a serious issue with my perks. Every single time I play on a serveer, my perks don't level up! Since I am obvioulsy field medic level 0, I can sometimes level that up in 1 game, but once I disconnect (by choice), from the server that is approved and has perks enabled, it completely resets what I got in the game... Even my achievement progress doesn't update. I find solo not anywhere near as interesting as multiplayer, and if possible I would really like to find a solution to this. I have checked game files, and have updated it... I am playing on Macbook Air, and have had minimal lag issues. From exploring on the discussions board, many other people have had this issue, but I have yet to find a solution that works. If Tripwire Active sees this, can you PLEASE fix this if possible, I would really like to be able to explore the perks more in-depth. Thank you to anyone who can lend me a hand in this issue!

-Ahem- ... There's a sandbox mode and non-whitelisted mutators that disable the perk progression.
Best way to find whitelisted servers is to check 'Perks Enabled' on the server browser (which is explained in quite many topics where people have the same problem as you do).

If you are playing on a mac, the problem can be harder to solve.
