How do I start a server to play with friends?
I got 2 other guys I wanna play with but I can't seem to figure out how to make a game. And all the threads I see online for making a game are about Killing Floor 2

Just join any dedicated server, preferably with low ping. Mind the server names, sometimes you can tell if a server is heavily modded just by looking at the server's name. UI is so simple that you can not have any trouble with finding dedicated servers. If you still do have trouble, by any chance, then the rough direction would be: Menu -> Multiplayer -> Internet Games -> set whatever filters -> Refresh. Once you find a desired server, press RMB on its name, copy its address and paste it to your buddies. All they need to do is type the following in console:
open IP_YOU_COPIED

I also recommend adding a server to favourites (can be done from menu)

If you really want to set up a server, check this[wiki.tripwireinteractive.com] and this.

Got ya. Friend and me tried finding a non-modded server but couldn't. Or at least couldn't find one that wasn't locked or with a ping in the 200s

You can just use host server button in the menus and it shows which ports you need to open before letting you choose the map. If you know how just open those ports and drop your IP to your friends to join.

It starts the server, but kicks me out of the game and I have no way of getting in.

Sounds like you're pressing the dedicated button. Hit listen instead.

Damn, I forgot all about me making a review for this game. I dropped it after a bit. Didn't realize I even tried making a server back then lol

Anytime I do a listen server, it doesn't let my friend join even when joining using my IP.

Did you forward the ports?

I have UPnP, which hasn't caused any problems for games that needed Port Forwarding in the past from what I remember. I'm still messing around with it and everything
It worked for me by using something called Hamachi, you just make a server on it and then your friend also downloads it and joins you. You then go to a listen server, and they should be able to join you through LAN. It looked sketchy to me at first, but looking online it seemed safe. This worked for me, it seems like other than that you just have to get an actual server.
