Free MukanShin'0. The permament ban is too harsh. Please lift it.
MukanShin'0, also known as Mukachin or simply Shino, is a long-time Killing Floor 1 player who has invested over 10,000 hours in this game as of May 2024. Here is a link to his account: https://steamcommunity.com/id/mukanshin0/

He got permanently banned from these Killing Floor 1 forums for saying the word "computer" in 2022, at the beginning of September. It was a reference to this meme: Bill "Microsoft" Gates. The moderator's message he received was along the lines of:

After reviewing multiple reports, posts, and moderation history it's been decided that warnings and temp bans will not discourage this user further violations. A decision has been made for a perma ban.

This ban is not limited to this discussion board, it extends to the entire Steam Community Hub for this game. As a result, Shino can no longer post memes like this, participate in discussions about Workshop items like this where he is recognized as a tester, post videos, publish guides, etc. What makes matters worse is that getting banned from just 2 different discussion boards automatically triggers a global community ban, which lasts until there is only 1 pending ban left. Additionally, the profile gets forcefully set to private. If Shino gets banned from a Community Hub for another game, he will not be able to post anywhere else until the new ban expires. In case the second ban is permanent, too, he will lose access to a large portion of Steam's functionality.

The ban reason quoted above cannot be sincere. Even though Shino posted a few off-topic comments in the past, including the "computer" joke, he posted constructive content as well. A few off-topic comments are not a good reason to ban someone permanently from the entire community hub. It is also important to note that since the day Shino got banned, another KF 1 forum poster has gone on a long trolling spree and only received temporary bans that appeared to be 1 week long in the worst case (I am not entirely sure how long his recent ban is). He derailed many topics, openly insulted other players, and baited people into non-constructive arguments. I do not believe that he deserves a permanent ban, either (longer temporary bans should suffice), but I am bringing his case up to highlight that he was treated differently than Shino despite committing more serious infractions.

Another important thing to note is that the autumn of 2022 looked to be the season when Tripwire moderators abandoned the Killing Floor 1 forums again. Steam moderators do not impose permanent bans so lightly, which leads me to believe that the moderator responsible for banning Shino was affiliated with Tripwire. Back when moderator Arcames was around, he would nuke comment chains and impose disproportionate measures on a few occasions. Was he the moderator who banned Shino, by any chance? Anyway, please lift Shino's permanent ban. 1 year and 8 months for an off-topic meme is already too harsh of a punishment, it does not need to drag out longer.

Aye, I agree. They keep unbanning the waste of oxygen that is Miko, but they keep real users like him banned. I genuinely don't understand.

The Steam discussions aren't the right place to dispute specific bans. We encourage you to contact Steam Support.
