How to change resolution on linux
So I just downloaded this game on linux. On windows everything was fine, it automatically picked right resolution. But when I first launched it on Linux it was set to 800x600.
I tried to change it in settings, but whenever I try to pick another resolution game freezes and I can do nothing about it, only way to unfreeze it is to press super key, and close steam, so the game closes with it.
Also after quitting game 800x600 resolution stays and I have to change it manually.
I tried using launch options in properties, first I tried typing there
-screen-width (my width here) -screen-height (my height here)
, but it didn't work, still 800x600.
Then I found on internet something bout using -w and -h instead, but this didn't work too.
So what can I do?

The port is broken in all kinds of ways. Try running it through Proton

5: If you change your resolution your game will crash insta. A Workaround for this. Before you change resolution, disable in the graphic options "Full Screen", change resolution and switch back to fullscreenmode.
Or edit killingfloor.ini in /home/USER/.killingfloor/System to desired resolution
[SDLDrv.SDLClient]
FullscreenViewportX=
FullscreenViewportY=

I disabled full screen, and it crashed (not even while changing resolution, it crashed while disabling full screen).
And bruh there is no killingfloor.ini
Only KillingFloor.exe and killingfloor-bin

The crash while switching from full screen to windowed mode should not be :(

the binary killingfloor-bin is located in: /home/USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/KillingFloor/System/

different file- and folderstructure on the native port, you have 2 folders for KF.

killingfloor.ini is located in: /home/USER/.killingfloor/System/

and if you still have trouble.
Start game in windowed mode, than change the resolution.

Option1:
open killingfloor.ini
change in: [SDLDrv.SDLClient]
StartupFullscreen=True to StartupFullscreen=False
-> Start Game, change resolution ingame in graphic options.
Enable in graphic options Full Screen again, or close the game and change in .ini StartupFullscreen back to True

Option2:
RightClick KillingFloor in steam and select Properties.
Type in Launch Options: -windowed
-> Start Game, change resolution ingame in graphic options.
Enable in graphic options Full Screen again, or close the game and remove the launch option.

Instead of /home/USER you can use $HOME or ~
like so:
$HOME/.killingfloor/System/
~/.killingfloor/System

you can paste that into your file browser or terminal and it will expand the path

Also, there is the console command:
setres 1920x1080

Actually I realized killingfloor.ini is in another location, found it and changed resolution there, but didn't post about it immediately.
Thanks everyone for help.

* Option 2 - worked for me, easy and fast fix, thank you ;) Then i changed resolution to full hd, check full screen mode again, save, and removed launch option. Work perfect!

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
