1) Close steam.
2) Run server.
3) Open steam.
4) Play.
- Start the server
- Profit and kill some zeds?
1. Start Killing Floor 1 using the Steam library or the KF 1 desktop shortcut.
2. Go to the desktop by pressing the "Windows" key or simultaneously pressing "Alt" and "Tab".
3. Go to your server's directory and proceed to the "System" directory.
4. Start your dedicated server by launching the default "KF_Server_Launcher.bat" script, your custom startup script, or using the following console command if you performed step 2 using cmd.exe or other CLI.
6. Open the server browser and open the "LAN" tab. Your local dedicated server should be there.
7. Join the server.
In case you need to restart the server, go to the desktop, close the server's application, and perform steps 3-7 again.
If you quit the game, shut down the server and perform steps 1-7.
Is there a manual for this?
What kind of manual do you mean?
I always thought there was a way to run a dedicated server and the game at the same time on the same computer, but only investigated the possibility briefly.
I checked the Work Shop, but found no guide that shows how to do this.
Checked KF config under [UWeb.Webserver] . bEnabled is set to True.
I tried Gray's method.
Neither method works for me. Server doesn't show up online with either. Shows up on LAN with both. But neither method allows me to join.
Downloaded Steam CMD. Downloaded dedicated server for KF.
I tried Gray's method using the server files. The same problem.
I tried Icy's method using the server files, but unable to start KF cause "app is already running."
Hopefully, either of these methods works for Green.

This is what we're talking about to start the gane before you 'Start the kf_server_launcher.bat'
It should work just fine, normally.
I will try, as you say, again.
Verifying files first. . . .
2 files failed, being updated . . .
Started KF. . .
Went to KF_Server_Launcher.bat and started it . . .
Used the ucc server command
With both, server started, shows up on LAN, but still unable to join on LAN, and the server doesn't show up on the internet.
Tried joining from another account. Shows up on LAN, unable to join, and the server doesn't show on the internet.
I use at least 2 Steam accounts and computers, both having KF.
I open ports on router using IPV4 settings for the server on one computer.
I start dedicated server through KF in one account using the normal method.
I open the other account on the other computer and start KF.
Server shows up online and LAN, and is joinable through both.
Web admin is accessible online and remotely. I never tried accessing Web admin through LAN though, but this is probably feasible.
That's what works for me.
Trying to run a dedicated server and play KF on the same computer never works for me.
Of course I can do the listen server from a computer.
Green, do you have another computer available?
If their methods don't work, and you don't have another computer available, then you'll have to go the listen server route.
You can leave the listen server open and spectate. The listen server will act as a dedicated server that you can join at any time.
Gtg for now. Have fun!
Work sucks, but someone has to do it.
