Aside from using perk levelling maps, or just playing zerker all the time there is no real easy way.

Zerker requires a good deal of skill, and even if you are level 6 but lack the skill you may find it hard to survive on harder difficulties.

Anyway, you can always just use your knife when you can easily take on some zeds even if you are a medic or sharpshooter.

Don't use knife. That is a weapon useful as off perk when you get really good at headshots. Get a mac for firebug as a halfway point until you get enough dosh for an axe, then switch perks. I would recommend that you get a lever action rifle for crawlers.

go for the katana and claymore. Learn SC and FP behavior and tactics. Chop them from behind. Ambush husks and sirens. decapitate every chance you get. Situational awareness. Don't die.

Start on Icebreaker map solo on a server, find the free katana, chop up all but a few zeds, find guns and ammo, drop the guns at the trader, do this is as long as you can manage, sell EVERYTHING, go get another free katana, repeat. If nobody else logs in and you keep doing this you can make insane money and then get yourself weapons you need to level other perks.
Just keep katana'ing everything as long as you can, around wave seven get pipe bombs, lay one down, keep one, find ammo, maybe you have 2 bombs now, lay one down, repeat.

Always run wave 1 and 2 as Berserker and stab everything that doesn't scream, shoot, or crawl. Knife is perfectly fine for clots, no so much for gorefasts, so run around and get all the clots to your knife leave the faster things to chase you and get gunned down or grouped up and grenaded.

go on objective fright yard over there there are 2 infinite waves
the first one spawns only bloats stalkers crawlers gorefasts and clots
and the 2nd spawns the other husk and fleshpound
thats how i got the 70 k money for the potato ;)
hour and a half grinding on the endless clot wave
also dont forget unless you get lucky to get a melee weapon from the begining or buy it from a trader you will be chopping with either an axe or a machete
one of the 2 ;)

Back hits deal double damage.

Bring yourself a good high level medic who can:

-Kill Husks, crawlers, bloats and sirens
-Keep you healthy, and shield when necessary
-Bait and kite FP and Scrake when necessary so you can deal 2x dmg from behind
-Feed you spare cash

You just stay alive and close to the walls and your medic. It can be a chore. Your armament will generally be:

Axe
Katana
MK23/Handcannon/Hunting Rife

Medics are completely unnecessary, if you switch between your berserk weapons and all other class weapons you can level everything to the top without every playing any of those classes. Level six anything you want just by knowing when to shoot, when to stab, when to weld, when to lay a trap and when to heal.

Berserker doesn't rely on anyone, berserker can lead about 40 Zeds around the map behind them in a parade and then take them down on their own terms in their own time.

This takes much longer than having a medic, as someone with with no experience as a zerk. You're speaking from someone who has experience as a berzerker. OP is on the grind. A good med is to ♥♥♥♥♥ you while you are learning - a god send.

Just because teamates can heal each other off perk does not mean it is optimal. While healing others rather than yourself is important, time spent healing teamates is time spent not killing zeds. You get a medic so teamates can spend more time killing and keep the situation under control.

The medic has reduced killing capacity while drawing more Zeds to a location and people's armor and health tend to suffer for the existance of a medic. Health costs nothing, armor costs money, money is armor or XP for perks via ammunition. Medic XP is 100% free.

Medics are a waste of server space.

Armor is super cheap as a medic. In the higher difficulties, a scrake or fleshpound can either kill you or tear apart your armor if you are not a medic, which breaks the bank. A medic saves that cost several times over due to reduced damage to armor and a discount.

I stated this already, but I will put it in another way: the medic increases the team's killing capacity by reducing the rate in which teamates have to heal each other.

There is also to consider the overlooked healing grenade. That thing makes the difference between wiping and getting through the wave. A medic is irreplacable unless you play on hard mode or something.

This will probably be one of those things where we will not come to a conclusion, so let's just agree to disagree, unless there is something you want ot add...

To level berserk you have to use the berserk weapon to kill thousands of enemies, you have to be able to survive close contact with almost everything in the game.

To level medic to six you need one other player, and one clot to beat on them while you hold heal, then shift tab out, and shift tab back in and then walk away from the game.
That's how easy and meaningless the healing class is.

set input k toggle bFire

Now just press k.

Also... are you seriously dismissing the medic on the grounds that you can afk level it?
