Guest passes?

I just redeemed the humble bundle copy of killing floor but for some reason it's given me two guest passes instead of a gift copy of the game. What the ♥♥♥♥ are these things?

Yes this is confusing me too. From what I understand the game is not free to keep forever. But please correct me because I'm actually not sure about this.

It seems like a REALLY big oversight to just like, have a game key just dissapear if you redeem it but already own the game. It should automatically give you a gift copy of the full game.

Humble Bundle doesn't give you a gift copy unless you click the check-box for that, and then it sends a link to whoever you tell them to send it to as an email. If you redeem HB for yourself, you get a Steam code that is NOT a gift code. So you've redeemed a game you already had and got the 2 Gift Passes that came along with the HB code. If you had given that HB code to someone else (text, email, etc.) then they could have redeemed it on their own Steam Library.
