Out of curiousity let me ask you the other way around: Why should we play kf2 instead of kf1?

Better graphics? for me KF1 has better gameplay so i like it better

because it's an actual decent game unlike that flaming carcass mess of a game.

yea I sure like having multiple spawn raged fp and qp at the start of the game as well as invisible and extra hitboxes on certain zeds. not to mention a crappy crouch animations that messes up your aim. balance that favors brain dead chaotic perks over precision perks that rewards timing and aim. horrible weapons balances, p2w dlc weapons and ancient 2 to 3 year old bugs still haven't been fixed.

as the person above said, why do people prefer such a horrid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a game that is borderline unplayable and frankly it's pretty much the equivalent of an early access game is beyond my understanding

Is that a market research? Alright, I'll be as vague as helpful. Things that added for challenge only came out as frustrating or game breaking so; gameplay is chaotic, mechanic design is a mess, balance is non-existent and tweaked spontaneously, build diversity for perks is only an illusion and finally I'm not entitled to enjoy $10 single DLC weapons.
Also yeah, tastes differ.
From what I’ve gathered from similar threads, most kf2 players right now are players who has little to no experience on kf1 so they’ve never actually found the true joy of kf1 making moving on to kf2 seem like a big step forward. Both games are very different and give a different level of enjoyment.

It's the one game my significant other and I enjoy playing together.

Because I'm unable to run kf2, also after finding out the cons of the second game I'd rather stick to this one more in the long run m8.

I was interested in KF2 from the moment it was first announced till the moment they added loot boxes to the game, the fact they was added in early access was just the icing on that particular ♥♥♥♥ filled cake. So I never bought the game and was never going to.

But I got the game gifted to me at Christmas shortly after it released ... I did not have it in me to to turn down the generosity shown / go into details about my boycott so I just graciously accepted it and played with my friend.

The core gameplay at the time was faced paced and refreshing, I enjoyed it a lot and was reasonably impressed by the free updates they were putting out ... but then I suffered a hardware failure which without a replacement means the game won't run, I've been back here since.

I did retain an interest in it's development but my opinion of the game has steadily been going down along with my desire to play it again in the future, then it took a literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nosedive of a cliff when I saw single weapons being sold for £10 ... 8 years ago they gave you 4 weapons for that amount ... and even back then it was a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea that was not very popular, it was so unpopular in fact that one of the devs later came out and said they'd not repeat the same mistake again with KF2 and would stick to only doing cosmetics ... yeah.

So yeah KF2 went from something I cared about, to not caring about, to them clawing back some good faith from me to pissing it all down the drain. I have little desire the play KF2 again ... realistically speaking I'd probably not be playing KF1 at all either if I had full access to my library of games, but I don't so here I am.

And no this is not a negative review of KF1, I've just played it for too many years and don't enjoy it as much as I once did. I still love it ... just not enough to want to keep playing it anymore.

KF2 feels awful to play

Ok, let me tell you what happened to me here... And there is gonnabe some lifestory and no TL;DR section. I dunno, I guess its worth it.

First time I have gotten actual memory about Killing Floor series was when I have watched some random video on YT where some good friends were trying out KF2. In beta still, iirc. In 2015, iirc again.
Only one of them seemed to have some experience, so it was kinda entertaining to watch, cause he was explaining sh*t to others and the audience. They were not all that bad due to this.

I kinda liked the game, but more liked watching these guys play - they are good at turning random crap into cakes. And when they made the second video about KF2 I then began to get interested in the game itself. The more I watched - the more I wanted to play. The game only had a few perks and... Like, 9 levels at the point? If my memory is trustworthy.

I have gotten quite a load of money for that stupid pricetag, waited for a sale and got the game.
Then I actually played it... It turned out to be a preety horrible experience. The learning curve wasn't that bad, but every encounter with the enemy, other than clot or gorefast, was just boring. Plus that stupid "lol, I grabbed you, look at me" mechanic.

The game was nice and so on, but it just felt very, very random. I like randomness, but I like the random kind of challenge, not the random enemies, dropping literally 3 meters away from me, not the way, whenever I welded a door, these boys would just ignore it and spawn right behind me. And where TF is actual weapons' damage, I am asking.
Oh, not to mention quite not "peak" performance on my laptop. Ok, when I think about it now, it was jorrible, but I cant say that was what made me abandon KF2.

I then forgotten the game for a looong time. I was disappointed, robbed and, quite possibly, bamboozled. This was one of the biggest failures in my life.

But around a year later - uh, no, waaaay more time has passed, 3 years is the least - I remembered kf2 and a thought stroke my head: "it has 2 in the name. There must be KF1, right?"
Yeah, it took me 3 years to realise. At that time I have watched a random "stream" on TV channel (lol, yeah, there is one, boiz make good stuff about not just games, but they also make streams weekly). The guys were checkimg out yet another game, but I was a little late and missed the name of it. They were failing too, ats for sure, but 2 of them had some thicc experience in it, so they, eventually, have beaten it (on normal :b). Most of the time the camera was on these 2, so I have seen what taking donw a scrake of an FP is... Plus other stuff, not important. (Like any of this lifestory is in any way relevant to the topic...)

I have had a nice time, almost forgotten the stream and the game, but, during that month, a thought has yet again struck my head. "Wait a second... Commando? Patriarch? This sounds... I definetely have heard these before." For some reason, I couldn't get rid of that thought. And in a few days the boys have streamed KF2. Yup, it all comes together.

I have checked the gameplay videos of KF1 - yes, it was the right thing. So, I decided to try my luck once again and have bought KF1. It was a sale, so I just slapped all weapon DLCs over, cause why not. (Funny thing, the full dlc pack, with both guns and reskins, and the one, with just guns, did cost the same for some reason. So, why not the bigger bang for the same price?)

I downloaded the game, got in and played a single beginner short solo match. Ofcourse I have chosen Commando - it was my favourite perk so far. I had fun, learnt the controls, trader menu and the game overall better and said to self that I liked it quite a bit.

The biggest pleasant surprise for me was the Rising Storm Tommy Gun, that I had and didnt even notice it was DLC, cause I had bought the R.S. game a month or two ago and comepletely forgot about it, lol. Another reason to love the Commando perk.

I then got into the game, learnt the bsic quirks of enemies in solo and upped some of my perks to lvl 1. Only then I have chosento go play Normal difficulty in multiiplayer.

It was a double upgrade - I decided to try Normal and Mutiplayer out at the same time.
The level of cooperation in multiplayer was sure a surprise, but a pleasant one. This cooperation is the thing that keeps me in the game to the present day, and I am not thinking about leaving.
The thiccer enemies had actual patterns, aside from "go>punch>ouch>rage>puchpunch" Well, not much different, but you have control over the things in KF1. FP is not a f*cking joke and the game has juuust right amount of vanilla content to enjoy it. Plus death is quick and doesn't give a feeling of "come on, game, that's BS!" like in KF2. And KF1 Pat is a real boss, that can kick ur mum's azz.

When in 2019 I looked back on KF2...
Holy s*it... I spent money on someting that turned into absolute clusterf*ck of random similar sh*t. Similar perks, similar enemies, absolutely gameplay-wise dumb decisions. And the whole enemy robot is a complete nuisance. Not a SINGLE reason to have it, aside from lack of actual ideas. Their imagination has drained, but they KEPT trying to add sh*t. And so, everything they have managed to add is, guess what, sh*t. I am not even speaking about all the "yes, we promised, but not really" thing. It was pointed out by other people here.

Is that so? I play on HoE and alot of my friends have spent 1000+ hours on kf1 lets not generalize here. I moved to kf2 because it was different after so many late night gaming sessions in the summer in highschool Ive become bored wanted some fresh gameplay.

Id say around 70% of the current kf2 player base have never played or barely played kf1, barely as in under 1000 hrs, but to keep things fair, at least 500hrs, first 1000 hrs is usually really just familiarizing yourself with the entire game and mechanics, sometimes it can even take people longer.

KF2 used to be good but the devs ruined it all they care about now is money and kf1 is overall a better game, which is why it has overwhelmingly posotive reviews and kf2 does not
