Slow Download Of Server Files

So recently my friend and I have setup a server for KF1 and we managed to put in mods and maps into our server and upload them to the server and redirect. Even with the redirect, players who try to join experience a terribly slow download. What are we missing to fix this problem?

You need to either set up an FTP service or pay for one to have a proper functioning redirect. Any other form of a redirect will not work. Websites like Dropbox used to function as a redirect in the past, however no longer works for reasons that I don't know. If you do think of getting a redirect though, make sure to have all of the files as a .uz2, a compressed version of unreal engine files. This applies to all forms of files such as maps(.rom), sound files(.uax), texture files(.utx) and etc.

Some maps, modifications and weapons downloaded do come with a compressed .uz2 file, some do not. There is a manual way of doing it, but I don't think it's worth explaining until you've got an FTP service set up and working. We have an FTP already and a redirect as well. Should I just take all of the server files and compress them in Winrar? Also how do I get files to be in .uz2?

Check the link I've posted, very simple instructions to follow for compressing any files you'd like.

The instruction is not very thorough doesn't help me much and the link is dead there. I did download a compression tool for KF1. "uz2" Can I just use that to compress all of my server files?

I hope you guys know it's not just maps. It's EVERYTHING in the server. Guns, gamemode, zeds, maps, and all the rest of the files. I'm almost pulling my hair out over this cr@p.
